I only had a short time to visit as I was on a guided tour. It was very beautiful! There was a family getting married there too, so there is lots of activity.
This religious enclosure has kept a great collection of artifacts and mementos that are a treasure to appreciate for their detail, and the way they reflect the religious devotion by those who crafted them. The amount of objects is quite generous. The renovations made in the galleries is just great. It is very easy to navigate the different floors and displays.I enjoy the quiet and freshness of the place. I have been there more than once, as an architect and designer.
Too many tourists that make too much 'whispering' noise. Should have more strict security to remind them that its a holy place and need to respect the people who are there to pray.
Just mind blowing to think that this church is as old as it is. The beautiful carved doors are worth a visit alone. Coming from Australia, it is always mind blowing to get your head around such old monuments and buildings. Certainly worth a stop.
Popped in for a few minutes on a walk around the Intramuros area. A wedding had just taken place so there was a real "party" atmosphere outside in the square as the happy couple emerged. A lovely Catholic church.
Since this is one of the few original structures in Manila preserved after shelling in WW II, it definitely merits its high rating. Also for historical and architectural reasons. I was fortunate to attain a Gregorian concert there which lent my visit a special flavour.
The San Augustin Church is celebrate its 440 years old. The interior of the church is very nice with beautiful ceiling. It is World Heritage site and worth to visit
an important part of the intramuros, plenty of history and a beautiful sanctuary especially if visiting on a Sunday where masses and weddings give a snapshot of local life.
interesting architecturally speaking - chinese lions at the front, only one bell tower instead of two, columns that do not hold anything (just for show).
A gothic styled church steeped in architectural history - the doors alone are fascinating and it is very worthy of its UNESCO status. Just as you enter Intramuros it cannot be missed or overlooked, but try to avoidf the coach parties (and possible cruise tourists who are in a mad rush). The only down side is the hawkers outside who are very pushy.
