Crashed a reception of the El Salvador embassy celebrating the end of the civil war. The paintings are wonderful. Try to get in.
We walked extensively around the old part of Managua. This seemed to be the nicest building by far, but we didn't go inside. I have heard great things and we wish we could have catch a concert.
The national theater is a very special place, a lot of history and a well know place in Managua. I went and watched some of my students dance there very nice. As in all of Managua you must be careful, especially when alone... Good experience.
My favorite place in Managua! Nice architecture, impressive chandeliers and great Nicaraguan art exhibition was there. The security guard knew a lot about the place and the exhibiting artists. I would live to go back to watch a show
I watched a classical music concert in Teatro Ruben Dario and it was a astonishing experience! The music was superb and so was the quality of the instruments.
What a gorgeous gorgeous theater! Great exhibits! Great shows! Although its pretty out of the way due to Managua having a new downtown a trip to this beautiful theater is well worth the trip!
This ancient theater takes us back to where the old capital city used to be. Located in the ancient donwntown of the capital city, it gives you the pleasure of the culture and customes from nicaraguan people. it conveys peaceand a sense of comfort while you are delighting with its folkore show and a misterious stage. It's a must visit place in Nicaragua. I Loved it !!!!!
The efforts by the director and his team are immense in bringing the cultural life up to a much higher level than ever before. The theatre hosts beautiful music, Italian and national artists for opera, the only shame is that the promotion is minimal and few people relatively can have this experience. For first timers to Nicaragua you can see the original folklore dancers and this is a must. The promotion and the catering could and should have a much bigger budget.
Good place to go to experience Nicaraguan music and culture. Ruben Dario was a great Nicaraguan poet. Read his poetry (in Spanish is best)
We asked the teller about touring the museum and she told us it was closed. Later I found out it is open during the week. Not sure what she was thinking.
Somoza's wife wanted a carbon copy of the Kennedy center and she got it-- more or less. This is a good place to see a show of some kind (I saw Grupo Pancasan back together after a few post-revolutionary decades) but not a place to visit to see.
El teatro ruben dario is a beautful theater where you can enjoy several different cultural events depending on the day, from plays, to operas to art show and dance expos. Ruben Dario does no dissapoint!
I enjoyed this performance at the Ruben Dario. I wanted to go back and check out the art but did not. Nice enough place and the attendants were very correct. It is also near the Malecon which I have heard is quite nice during the day.
