Ligñon Hill is a must visit attraction of Legazpi. It offers a panoramic view of the city and most especially the breathtaking view of Mayon Volcano. Best time to visit would be in the morning, 6am to 8am (as long as the sun won't burn you) so that you will see the best of the Mayon Volcano. Make sure to bring bottled water for you might get thirsty during the walk up to the top. Its good to visit at evening too because of the citylights. However, there is an admission fee to be paid. As as I can remember, the fee for local tourists is P20 while P50 for foreign tourists. The challenge here is to take a slow walk up to the top of the hill (I highly suggest that instead of riding a car). There are some souvenir shops too and eatery in case you'll get hungry.
This attraction is on top of a very high hill which reminded me of the People’s Park in the Sky in Tagaytay. There’s a minimal fee to be paid. If you are fit, you can walk/jog straight up otherwise you can drive to the top, just turn off the aircon to make sure your car won’t overheat. The highlight of this place is the panoramic view of the Legazpi City. I think it is better to go there in the evening as you will appreciate the lights in the city. You will also get a very good view of the Mayon. There are other activities like the zipline and hanging bridge. There are some souvenir shops too.
Where to go on a weekend? This is the place to come for a short visit. Pay PHP20 as admission fee. Take a slow walk up to the top of this hill to catch a lovely view of the city and the Mayon volcano.Best time would be in the early morning.
It is on top of a hill where you can see the ocean, legazpi airport and city, the scenic mayon volcano. Fee is around 20 pesos per head. Just visit the place for less than 30 min.and thats more than enough.
You can drive to the top where parking is limited or park at the bottom and walk up. Alternatively drive halfway up as far as the toll barrier and park on the vacant ground on the right. You can buy fresh coconut water here. At the top you have a great view of Mayon volcano to one side and Legaspi on the other. Directly below is the airport and its a great place to watch aircraft movements. There is also a zipline and shops selling souvenirs and refreshments. You can also book ATV tours.
The most memorable thing about it were:a.) the view of planes taking off the runway. You can watch them all day... it was pretty interestingb.) windy... even if its sunny it was fine when we were therec.) lots of activitiesd.) the activity we did where we were required to walk along a cable over a ravine was really exhilarating...things not to rave about:a.) some parts look really old and rundownb.) the "clubhouse" i dont know what to call it... on top did not look like people paid too much attention on the upkeepc.) more trash bins please....
I have been to Albay countless times since my cousins live here. But this is the first time I visited Lignon Hills. I was amazed because this is where the Mayon Volcano has the best view. Also you can view the City from above. This place is such a charm for those who wants the best views.
The place is located in a mountainous area were you can have a clearer view of the Mount Mayon. There is also a place here were you can see the city of Legazpi. The park is great to visit for those first timers in Legazpi. You can also roam the place and feel relaxed as the place is great idea for that.
Ligñon Hill gives a fantastic view of the famed Volcano of Mt. Mayon as well as the city of Legazpi. It a rather steep climb or drive, depending on your mode of transport, but once you get to the top, the viewing decks give a panoramic view of Mayon volcano on one side and the city of Legazpi on the other. However if you particular on which side you want to take your pictures I would suggest to get there in the morning for the Mayon view and the afternoon for the Legazpi view, weather permitting. Several shops are available near the viewing decks. For the the more adventurous at heart, a zipline is also available. Overall its a great way to experience a perfectly coned active volcano.
There are several activities that you can do in Lignon Hill. It gives you a panoramic 360 degree view of Legazpi City, Daraga, Albay Gulf and the Mayon Volcano. However since we got there late in the afternoon already, we just tried the zipline and took some pictures as well. The zipline is fairly priced (P250.00 per head, two-way + one free picture ziplining). It’s a good place to jog if you are staying nearby, has a hanging bridge which was featured in the Asian Food Channel recently (regretted to have not walked here though), has a Japanese tunnel (not a fan of tunnels anyway), ATV trails and had a pasalubong center as well (I don’t recommend buying all of your souvenirs as they are priced double compared to the pasalubong center near the bus terminal in Legazpi City). Our guide told us that the best times to come here would be early in the morning or late in the afternoon until early evening as this provides a perfect view of the Legazpi skyline. I'd say a good place to go for first-timers. If ever I come back here, I'll try the other zipline and the hanging bridge.I just felt they had to improve some of their facilities especially the restrooms. Should have water at all times. With the entrance fee that they get from visitors, restrooms should be free of charge when one has to use it. It's a pre-requisite for all attractions/parks especially for those that you pay for before you enter.
Lignon hill is a few minutes away from Legaspi City with minimal entrance fee. you can jog there, zipline for P250 (basic), atv, and try the hanging bridge (P250). you can by softdrinks there :)
We went up to Lignon Hill to check out the attractions and view Mayon Volcano. We had a vehicle so we went straight up. There were also people in their running shoes walking up the hill. It was a long drive up. Don't walk up if you're not fit enough. There is a Chowking fast food restaurant that served Chinese food. You can also get the local favorite "halo-halo" cold dessert. They have limited stocks of some food items so some regulars may not be available or only a limited number of orders can be served. There is also a souvenir shop which sells native Bicol handicrafts and other local products. You can also try the zipline ride on top of the hill!
We went here on a clear day to view Mt. Mayon. You can take a jeepney from Legaspi City or Albay that is going in the direction of Daraga 2nd loop and ask the driver to stop at Ligñon Hill. From the drop-off at the main road it is only 5 minutes walking to the parking place. There you pay the environmental fee of 25 peso per person and begin to climb the steep road up the hill. It took us 15 minutes including small breaks in the shade. The Ligñon Hill itself did not offer anything interesting to us, except the view of Mt. Mayon. I agree with the reviewer below who states the creator of this viewpoint did a very poor job with regards to the view. Ziplines and trees are indeed blocking the view of the volcano. We took the small path down in the back behind the zipline station and found the desired unobstructed view there. There is a stall that sells young buko juice for 25 peso. The people at the souvenir shop were very unfriendly and the photographs of Mt. Mayon (they do not even have postcards?) are overpriced. It is however the best place to go if you want to view the beautiful volcano, a true 5-star sight.
They have amazing zipline and you can view the overlooking mayon volcano..many attraction you can see by walking on a hill.
Going to hill is a bit tricky. Are you confident with your hiking skills? Well, I consider this hiking for beginners it's not that far (maybe 30-40min walking pace without stop over) and the road is well paved (good). You can also take some shortcuts on the side to reach the top faster but I wouldn't recommend it unless you have trekking experience. You can bring your car if you like but where's the fun in that :) Entrance fee is P20.There's a Japanese tunnel near the entrance. If you want to explore it ask around the entrance for a guide in the tunnel.I would recommend going there during sunrise or sunset (sunset is better). You can have 360 view of the city. You can see the Pacific ocean, the city and the Legazpi airport. There are 2 coin-operated binoculars available (costs P5 for 3mins *I think*).There are also activities like zip line and hanging bridge.Souvenirs are available and refreshments.
