While going home in our province i decided to explore my own region so i started reading about this sandbar. I've never been to any but as i read i know it going to be interesting. You will find it in the middle of the sea so you have to rent a boat. Basically youcan book it in the tourism or in the hotel where you stay. I didn't set an expections, my thought was .. Surpise me! I was absolutely suprised! It was beautiful. It's a small sand but soft and white sand. Wate ris clear. You can walk around and explore the mangroves plantation which you will be amazed how these trees survived in the middle of the see and as i read even in the high tide where all is covered by salt water they still survive.Highlight was the snorkeling avtivities. I did not hav eany idea that they offered snorkling activities there but as we talked with the people who takes care of the area they offered us a snorkling activitities. A guide is a must for it is a protected area. You will find and see endangered species like a giant clams just in a shoulder lenght water. As we snorkeled we were all amazed how beautiful the fishes and corals under. It's like a aquarium picture. We all had a great time and wonderful memories!
Who would have thought that Paradise is just 10 minutes away from Masbate City. Buntod Reef is just that, Paradise! The water is pristine and the sand fine white. I had such a good time here that going back soon will be my priority. Round trip by boat for 2 will cost you just P500. Aside from swimming snorkeling is another you can do here. If you dont have any equipment they have equipment for rent.Masbate should take care of this Paradise. Truly their Crown Jewel.
The sand bar can be reached in ten minutes from the shore of Masbate City and the best op off point could be Rendezvous resort which has a long dock jutting out to the sea. The boat ride is quick and costs just 800 pesos a boat which can sail up to 25 pax. Snorkels, masks and fins (a must as the corals can give you deep cuts on the foot and hashes on your shin and knees) are available for rent by enterprising crew men who man the makeshift office floating by the edge of the sanctuary. A young diver will accompany the boat to the areas where diving and snorkeling activities are allowed. Watch out for lots of sea rasses and at least three types of starfish; big taklobo and budiong shells, massive sea cucumbers and lots of fish. Because corals spawn at certain seasons, one will be luck to see millions of polyps floating to signal more coral growth in the generations to come. The only downside to the sandbar: no decent toilets, especially for women and a steep price for boat rental to get to nearby snorkel sites.
Few minutes ride tricycle the boat ride from the Masbate airport - escaping from bustle and hustle of the city to walking on the white, sugary sandbar, blue water, seeing fish underneath cottage( only one open cottage). Nothing can beat that! There is no restaurant nor restroom their ; ) just a heads up.
Went to Buntod twice this summer 2014 with my wife, kids, relatives and friends about 40-50 of us...it was really a place to visit whenever in Masbate. How often would you find a white Beach with Beautiful Fine Sands within the city center? Its just a 15 minute boat ride and you are there..The best time to visit the place on week days in order to avoid too many visitors, and consider also if its High Tide because water is really great when the sand bar is almost covered with water..You can swim all you want and snorkle at the same time for a very minimum fee..So whenever you are in masbate city dont forget to fit in schedule visiting Buntod, its worth the time I Promise!!!
it is a sand bar. White sands. Mangroves. Clear waters. Very quiet. And surprisingly within the city center. A bonus is a boat ride to the next cove.
Some friends brought me in this paradise. I highly recommend you visit Masbate, or if you are there dont miss swingin by.This is one of the islets in the Philippines that goes under water when the tide rises. Cool and very clear water. Great place for family escapades and bonding.
Affordable, yet the view is amazing! Prices:2-way Boat ride - Php500Snorkling - Php50/personCottage - FreeBest time to visit is during low tide, as white sand submerges into water during high tide. Overnight accommodation is not available.
to be honest the last time i went to masbate way back 1994 during that time i am turning 8 year's old. by 2013 masbate prove that even they known for poverty maybe the tourism can help my fellow masbateno.a good example is the 6 words to remember masbate and that is buntod sandbar and reef marine sanctuary.
the food is super good. my friends and classmates were just as friendly, sincere and accommodating just like in high school days everyone were just warm and happy. it is home except, for the streets. It is crowded with tricycles and people. I will be back soon.
This is my first time to visit a sandbar, so I was very excited, and I was never wrong, it was pretty amazing!I was amazed to be here.I like the place in general, it's just that when we went there, I think there was a volleyball competition so there are other people in the island, but I think, usual days there would be none, as if you own the island set-up. The sand is white, though not very fine, but still, it's amazingly beautiful! It was really the right choice to visit Masbate! :)
