One of my best experience in farm education! From theoretical to the hands-on experience and expedition in looking and extracting the bees, it was all worth it. Aside from the great learning, Rico and Eds prepares the best organic food for every meal and merienda. You would always ask, what is this? How did you do this? As the meals served there was also a great experience.....something different from the everyday food you eat at home. I would definitely come back for a refresher course.....or just for the great food!

My research & data gathering for my undergraduate thesis led me to visit Milea Bee farm. My dad, who hails from the exact city where the apiary is situated, accompanied me there. I've already visited a handful of bee farms from the neighboring provinces (Cavite & Laguna) prior to my visit in Milea, so I already had my expectations on what one should look like.We were led to an off beaten track, just a few minutes away from the main road. To my surprise, the place was more than what I expected. First, the flowers were all in full bloom. Ang ganda! The neighboring coconut trees were abundantly fruitful, I thought their trunks would just snap off anytime from supporting all that weight. Never in my life have I seen nature be so rich and copious. It was just paradise in there. It was thrilling that even the sound of the bombinating bees was music to my ears. :DSir Rico and Ms Edilee are the kindest. I adore their generosity when it comes to sharing their passion to others. I think everyone should be inspired by them. :D

First time to visit a bee farm and it was such a grand one! Not only did i learn a great deal about bees and how to detect real honey but alout edible flowers as well. The hospitality of the owners, Rico & Eds, also keep me and my friends at ease with the place. The food and drinks served by the staff were so yummy,! Great experience....hope to be back in the near future. Two thumbs up!

I was amazed by the plants and bees..We learned soo much about the different kinds of Bees.. from the owner's orientation ( Rico Omoyon) who actually happens to be my closest relative... :) so thankful for him and to my friend from Lucena City who is so interested in organic plants. I am definitely going to come back to Milea Bee Farm with my little kiddo and invite more friends to visit soon! :)

Very nice place..i learned a lot from the three days beekeeping we had... It was a hand-on experience. The food was good, the owners who conducted the training were very knowledgeable and they have the bees in the area which we came to know about.

Had a very wonderful experience learning about bees for three days. Wonderful hospitality and really great natural food. Owners really know what they are doing.

We visited on speck with 6 children age 6 to 9 and despite the owners being away the staff showed us around and we spend a fascinating few hours looking into the hives and seeing the comb honey and baby bees. I didn't realize there was a Filipino bee, a small variety of the normal bee but having no sting. A great way of spending a few hours.Difficult to find off the road but many locals know the way.

Great place! Great food! Really nice people! I learned a lot from the beekeeping workshop at Milea. Every question was answered and all information was given to us.

The apiary makes use of recycled materials such discarded rubber tires that were converted into steps for the hilly portions of the property. Discarded plastic containers are converted into planters for seedlings. Vermiculture is in one section of the property utilizing rabbit excrement. Discarded ground coffee beans are collected from cafes and used as organic fertilizer in the farm.An audible hum is apparent as four species of bees are visibly buzzing around from flower to flower collecting nectar. They currently have colonies of European Honey Bees (Apis mellifera), Native Honey Bees (Apis cerana), Native Stingless Bees (Trigona spp.) and they help manage colonies of Asian Giant Honey Bees (Apis dorsata) that prefer to stay in the wild.According to apiary owner Rico Omoyon, bees are a natural part of the ecosystem whose role as pollinators help increase the number of fruits thus multiplying the number of planting materials. Ancient practices of smoking the hive to extract honey kills the bees and has caused irreparable damage to the ecosystem. The presence of bees in an area is a good sign that the property has a thriving ecosystem. “If we can train local folks on the proper way to extract honey without killing the bees, then we will have an adequate supply of honey and bee-related products the whole year round. We really thank our friends from Lipa for taking us to this place. Really lovely and a whole different kind of vacation experience. It was educational as well as entertaining to know a lot about bees. We really enjoyed the snacks available too! Definitely a place that's highly recommended.

Milea Bee farm is located in Balagtasin, San Jose, Batangas. It's an hour and a half drive from Osmena Highway thru STAR Tollway. The place is not your usual bee farm resort place, From the car, we walked 10 minutes to get to the farm amid black pepper and mango trees. The owner/host greets visitors himself, and is always ready to answer questions about bees and organic farming.The tour takes 2.5 hours which starts with introduction of bees, then a tour of the farm where several species were introduced. Closed encounter with the bees, like holding the frames and feeling the temperature of the bee houses were really exciting to both young and adults.We were also taught how to detect real from fake honey!The tour ends with snacks and drinks. The owners were also kind enough to give free seeds of flowering plants that abound the farm.All in all, the tour is: enjoying - with the hilly terraine, different kinds of bees and many many kinds of flowers that are edible and bees love; educating - we learned a lot about bees and growing our own food; and relaxing - it is a good feeling to be surrounded with nature.I'd recommend Milea Bee Farm to families with children, groups who want to know more about and commune with nature; to those who are fascintated with the role of insects in our ecology; and to those who want a little excersise walking up and down the steps in the farm.
