I take my dog here on sundays, always a buch of playmates for my dog to play with. Also a lot of restaurants to choose from
New office buildings - food choices very diverse - lots of tier one shopping, too. I will stay in this part of Manila next time.
I rate this place a 4 star because it is best for living and working, but may be a little bit boring for people who come for an adventurous visit from a developed city, because it is like a developed city in many places! For people who are choosing a place to live in a city in the Philippines, Bonifacio Global City (BGC) is unbeatable. There is no other place in Metro Manila (MM) that has this combination: comfortable sidewalks (this is one major luxury in MM!), freedom from the threat of and obstruction from overhanging power cables and transformer boxes (even Makati has too many of these), a functioning drainage system (flooding is a real problem in many parts of MM during rainy season), visible security on the street (the "marshalls" on motorcycles serve as a deterrence to crime, even though we mostly see them in action in chasing away vehicles attempting to park on streets). The often air-polluting and traffic-obstructing jeepneys are not allowed in the center of BGC, which makes getting around BGC in a car much more efficient and pleasant. Buses getting in and out of BGC, though, can be in short supply during peak hours.BGC has the highest concentration of international schools in the Philippines. There is a very good hospital here, although sometimes one wishes there were more choices for medical services. The biggest attraction in BGC is actually Bonifacio High Street. It is an open space flanked by low rise, modern and interesting shopping facilities on the left and right. This is what makes BGC awesome, a place where you simply enjoy walking around day in and day out. The greenery and art installations (fountains) are so well-maintained and pleasant that it immediately puts one in a relaxing and happy mood. There are so many nice cafes and restaurants around it that it is so easy to spend a few hours there without noticing the passing of time. For those who are into clubbing, the high end kind, BGC also has a large concentration of clubs/bars/lounges with less of the usual rowdiness. The schedule of events can be found in a great site called BGCMyCity, which, by the way, has interactive maps showing where restaurants and cafes are, with reviews from several popular review sites all in one place. BGC is also a top destination for business process outsourcing companies, which explains why there are so many convenience stores in the area. Many of the BPOs cater to clients in USA and Europe, and are open 24 hours a day. For tourists, apart from Bonifacio High Street, you can go to American Cemetary and Memorial if you are interested in the history of World War II. There is the Mind Museum for families with children who are interested in science. On weekends, there is a foodie market called Midnight Mercato @BGC that is located at 34th Street corner 9th Avenue. It has stalls that sell traditional Filipino street food in a clean environment, as well as some unique street food. Or, for those young and restless, you can join a flying trapeze class at weekends at an outdoor trapeze school also located at 34th street corner 9th Avenue.
You can ride a bgc bus that can go around the area. The street reminds of New York because of the names 1st St, 2nd St ....and so on. You can ride a taxi, jeep or just walk. Restaurants are surrounded around the area. Market Market mall where you can buy inexpensive things. SM Aura where you can attend Mass, dine in their restaurants, or just wak around on their garden type roof top. S and r is there to buy US brand and quality products.
This place is awesome. It definitely beats the regular rustle and bustle of Metro Manila (you won't find any kids taking a #2 on the street here). Everything is so clean and drivers are forced to adhere to the traffic lights. The stores are super clean and even though there is smog (it is Makati), the environment just offsets everything. It's obviously the safest area to probably jog. Of all my times visiting Manila, I've never seen so many joggers congregate and work out in one specific area.
If you ever get sick around metro manila and looking for a first class medical treatment, the answer is St. Luke Medical Center at Bonifacio Global City. My son was in need of immediate medical attention presumably to allergic reaction to antibiotic prescribed in the States. Check the list of available physician and hospital around the area that we are staying. Found numerous medical facilities that are nearby but St Luke Medical Center stands out among one of the best. Took a taxi and it only took around 15 mins. When we arrived at the medical facilities my son and I assumed that the driver took us in a hotel. I've never seen a hospital with valet parking. As we enter the lobby there's a concierge ready to direct us to the medical attention my son required. They quickly direct us to a specialist without further delay. Based on his findings he told my son to stop the antibiotics completely and prescribed a new medication and to see his doctor once he get back to the US. After that visit within 2 days the rashes due to allergic reaction start disappearing. If you feel that you needed some medical attention I recommend to avail the services at this hospital. Guaranteed you'll have probably one of the best medical services you can find in the Philippines. The ground floor of the hospital they have different food court that are available for your liking. This is a first class establishments.
This place is not so much an attraction, but a thriving residential and commercial community. Definitely not the place to go to if you are looking for an 'Old Manila' or grassroots urban experience. However, this is the place to be if you wish to avoid overwhelming crowds and be able to walk places with traffic generally respecting your pedestrian rights. Unlike many places in Metro Manila, BGC adheres to modern standards of urban planning. There are ample sidewalks, pedestrians are given right of way, no electric wires dangerously dangle overhead, and the presence of cctv and security personnel gives a good sense of security. Shopping, dining, and entertainment choices are plentiful. Facilities are generally new or recently refurbished. Bonifacio High Street and SM Aura boast the most comfortable cinemas and mall facilities in Taguig (if not Metro Manila): the former being outdoor and pet-friendly, the latter being the more usual, but higher-end, shopping mall. There is a weekend market and many shopping, cultural, and sporting events are held in BGC throughout the year.
This landscaped block commerce, retail, restaurants and bars, and residential projects is a sight to see. Several years ago, this area in Taguig was a quiet undeveloped tract of land. It is now bustling with progress. Several high end locators are here in Bonifacio Global City. You can also find the Mind Museum here and a public art found in its mini park. Nice to know that there is a place like this in Taguig, Metro Manila.
Yes, this area is safe and well planned - but it's not the real Manila for tourists. As the name implies, it's a microcosm of great cities from around the globe. Give it time to grow. Maybe by 2020 it will be a fascinating place that wins international awards. Right now it feels too quiet and a bit sterile. Actually, it reminds me of Canberra. Lots of straight roads, lots of pedestrian zones and a handful of boring sculptures. But just like Canberra it has some charm. You have to live here to appreciate it. Scratch the surface and you'll find excellent restaurants, plus a few cutting-edge shops. Best of all, you're welcomed like a local, even if you are a tourist. I just wish the city council would install a few street maps on the sidewalks, so the tourists know where they're going.
The best business district in the Philippines. Systematic traffic. Wide and efficient sidewalks. Underground electricity. No unwanted advertising billboard. The best office buildings. Great choice of residential condominiums. Several pockets of commercial areas like Burgos Circle.
This city is awesome. If you love shopping, you'll find luxury brands of fashion, even cars, and more. Premier mall The SM Aura is also in the city perfect for shopping. Bonifacio High-Street is a good place to chill out. Bars and restaurants can be found in the vicinity, from average to ultra chic bars. Restaurants of different cuisines are varied for you to choose from.
BGC was shockingly sterile, it was like it was built from a flat pack like a mcdonalds store. The place has no soul, every store was either a chain or a chain like copy. The only reason to go would be to visit The Perfect Pint a small bar that only sells local craft beer, though I believe the beers can be found elsewhere.
Lived here at Burgos Circle which is the older section of BGC. Loved this place and its ambiance. Not chaotic at all.
Western eating, hotels (2) and shops. You dont have to leave its sterile confines and can avoid the "real" Manila.
BGC is a far cry from old Makati and Metro Manila. Very clean and well organized. You can easily walk to anywhere.......and....feel safe. Cabs are easy to get if you need to get somewhere fast. It about 180 phps to go from BGC to the Mall of Asia should you need to. BGC had everything.....tons of restaurants.....bars....places to eat outside...and a wide variety of cuisines. Market Market is a great mall and a good place to exchange currency. You can eat high end food or sit at the Fiesta Market and have done tasty local food. Take some time and stroll High Street you will be impressed with what is there. I'm pretty sure that Rolls Royce and Lambourgini would not have showrooms there if it was not a special place.
