Wonderful beach for swimming and relaxing. Lots of activities, especially the Kite and wind surfing.Few restaurants on the beach that provide wonderful food and happy hour drinks. Very friendly staff and the ambience in the night is just spectacular. Definitely a must and should be able to spend an entire day if you around the Puerto plata area. Taxi's are an expensive but safe option. Gauga's are cheaper, but we took a taxi from Sosua and the same guy picked us up in the night.
The waves were wonderful. Anyone appreciating kite boarding would love this beach. Lessons available.
This is a clean and beautiful beach ! If you kite surf this is the place for you!Safe only during the day, at night full of hookers that rob you :-(
If your in the Puuerta Plata area You must go here. Probably more than once. It is the Dominican version of the Jersey shore.
Great beach for spending the day in the sun or under an umbrella...many choices of food and drink....everyone wanting to serve us
I just loved the atmosphere surrounding this beach.. loads of trend cafes.. some really good clubs and some good old sit down pubs.. a great mix running right along side a wonderful beach.. what more could you ask for in a place like this.
kite surfing is the main attraction in Cabarete. It's windy but that's why it is a kite surfing Mecca. It's just amazing to sit and watch the kite surfers. If we were thirty years younger we would try it ourselves! Cabarete beach is long and lovely to walk with a number of great pubs and restaurants at one end and 'Kite' beach at the other. It is somewhat busy during competitions but otherwise they are only out there in mid afternoon. During the week the beach has been very quiet and lovely for taking long strolls. The water is warm but often too rough to go too far into. Overall just a wonderful place to visit!
Beautiful white sand, wide variety of beach bars and restaurants with live music available and dancing at night. They rake up the seaweed every morning so that the beach is clean all day. Perfect waves, perfect water. You can learn to wind or kite surf, or just watch the show!
Kites everywhere. One of the worst beaches I have ever been to. I go to the beach to relax but cannot do so here. If you're into kiting then this is for you.
sit and watch the kiteboarders navigate the waves. their sails like so many butterfly wings in the steady wind. it is colorful and relaxed and invigorating all at once. clean breezes and an array of people. the shore is dotted with resorts and restaurants, or you can find a more tranquil viewing spot further down the coast.
We stayed at the Beach Palace. Our place was right on the beach. The sights and sounds of the Ocean are unforgettable. Area is very safe. You can get anything you want at Janet's Grocery store. They will deliver to your place. All the Restaurants are in the walking distance. No car is needed on your visit. Just lay back and relax.
Beautiful walking beach. We walked multiple times from near Janet's to the kite beach. It was fun watching the kiters on windy days and the surfers too. The main areas were very clean.. 100 % sand to get in as the outer reefs stop any potential shells or rocks from coming in. There is a lot of seaweed at times which is cleaned up in the Bay Area. We stayed at the Viva Tangerine and would go back anytime.
Spent most of an afternoon getting beat up by this warm surf. A boogiebpard was a very good investment.
Beach is public, lots of bars side but side, all wanting your business, but yet the service is slow at most of them. The beach itself is not as clean at the the beach in Sosua. Lots of garbage, broken glass. If you are a kite boarder you will love this area, a nice breeze constantly making for perfect conditions. If you are a beach lover, try Playa Sosua.
Not the best beach in the world but nice enough,. yellowy white sand, lots of plants and seaweed come in overnight due to the rough seas but I liked it. I think its an ideal place for surfers of all types but not for those who want somewhere quiet. There are restaurants and bars that can be reached along the beach when the tides allow. We were in Kite Beach which seems to have a cut off point at a certain time of the day.
