I wouldn't recommend this place for strollers, it's so narrow and a little annoying to get through. Especially if it's crowded. We were almost there by ourselves! Some parts are very smelly and unclean looking. Seal tank looked dirty as well. Overall a nice place to spend an hour or two on a nice day. One thing that was really ridiculous was the gift shop closing an hour before the zoo closed. Why, just why?
The aquarium was under repair, at least part of the facility was. There was only one small room for the aquarium and nothing was labeled, so you weren't able to tell what the fish were. The zoo was nice but nothing special. The price is quite reasonable though.
This is a great attraction in Bermuda with a quiet and serine atmosphere. This is a great place to see the local fish around the Island. It is also priced right and the people who were working there were very nice. The bistro is a nice place to stop by.
This facility is worthy of 2 or more hours of your time. The exhibits are well thought out, and outside there's more stuff to see, which is good. Alot of schools have tours there to teach students about the sea life around Bermuda. I would recommend this for a cloudy day when you're not going to the beach. The staff is great, and will answer any question you may have about the exhibits.
It looks small when you get off the bus stop, but it is bigger than it looks. The aquarium is first which is inside. Then you go outside for the zoo. It's not huge, but that's the nice thing about it. They also have the museum which is very educational. I would go back for another visit.
Went with the entire family on a rainy day and was pleasantly surprised with the amount of different animals. Lots of hands on stuff. They are still rehabbing from the hurricane damage and there is only the two big tanks to make it an aquarium....would like to see it when its done. Go for the seal show its in the early afternoon
Located at the narrows of Flatts Bride on Harrington Sound this is a quiet but well done experience. Has both indoor and outdoor attractions includding a very good comparison to Madagascar island including captive Lemurs.Restaurant on site this is also a good place for families.Watching the tide turn under Flatts bridge outside of the Aquarium is a fascinating bonus.Under some reno's catching the Bus back to Hamilton is a little dicey as the sidewalk is closed until complete.
Let me start off by saying this zoo was very hands on. Lots of areas had open exhibits or the ability to interact with the animals, bugs, or marine life. They had an abundant supply of animals we would never get in Canada and it was very well maintained. Spent maybe 90 minutes walking through the entire zoo and enjoyed it. The zoo itself is right at a major bus stop so very easy to get too without taking a scooter or taxi and relatively cheap to go in. With kids i could easily see a family spending an entire afternoon here.
I am a member of BAM&Z. Its a quiet and serine atmosphere .Great for families. Planned seasonal activities for children and families. There is a restaurant and gift shop on site. Great food and gift shop has lovely souvenirs Currently the Aquarium is under going much needed repairs, replacing the roof, however this has not stopped visitation. They have made adjustment which allows visits to continue safely for all.
Something to do on a drizzly day but more for little kids, not geared to a couple. Did enjoy the flamingos though and the seals are always cute. Outside of that, we walked through it going through the motions. Could have saved the expense of purchasing the tickets.
This is a great attraction in Bermuda. The grounds were large for such a small island. You could wander down pathways that would lead you through enclosures where you were open to the wildlife. It was a nice experience that differs from Zoo's in the US where you are completely segregated from the wildlife. There were not any enclosures that were open to dangerous animals and you could chose to look at any of the enclosures from outside of the enclosures if you felt more comfortable. The aquarium was very nice. There was a nice kid room that allowed you to interact with the animals, it would be a nice family outing with young children or even teens. The history museum was quite large too. The whole place was very clean and relaxing. There were many benches with views of the water or gardens. It is a place where you could wander for hours and very affordable (I think it was $15 per adult?). Staff was great! I lost my camera (fell under a bench) and they helped me locate it. Luckily a good samaritan ended up turning it into the front desk!
The Aquarium, it is like the best place in the world when you are young, making this place a great family location! So many things to do here, such as playing on the playground (for kids hopefully) looking at ocean wildlife in massive tanks, land animals, observing Bermuda's history, and much more. Now with Madagascar, it adds a whole lot more including wild Lemurs! i would HIGHLY recommend this place to any tourist of any kind!!!
The aquarium has been damaged due to hurricane damage. They had some of it open. We enjoyed the different animals in the zoo that we don't usually see. The bus stops right at the zoo.
Refurbishment ongoing so not full open but well worth a viewing especially for kids. Lots of animals, birds in outside scenes. Pink flamingoes, giant turtles etc.
We brought some friends to visit the aquarium and zoo without realizing that the main building was still closed for repairs after the hurricane this fall. It was unfortunate, because the aquarium is one of the highlights of the visit. The aquarium building is almost 100 years old so there is a lot of history as well as some fascinating marine life that is usually on display. The rest of the zoo is still intact and definitely worth a visit. The animals are fairly small and the cages are quite large, so they are well cared for and quite comfortable compared to other zoos you might have visited before. Be sure to check out the pink flamingos, especially at feeding time. They are an amazing sight to see.
