port albert fishway

We visited Port Albert last April and we were amazed at the number of fish that were jumping in the falls and making there way up the fish ladder. It was a sight to see. People were actually cheering! In the morning and the afternoon a group of fish conversationalist came and "lifted" the fish swimming in the fish ladder and took measurements and tagged some and also milked some of the eggs in order to hatch and release at other places up stream. It was all very interesting and I was impressed at the size and abundance of trout. I thought is was worth checking out.
