We stayed with family in MInden which is about 1h from Bracebridge. We have a 11yo nephew with us and to get both of us out of the house I came up with the idea of going to the movies. We found Bracebridge to be the closet with the new Hobbitt movie and we decided to drive there. The theatre is in the downtown aand it is a red brick building typical of the Muskoka villages. We arrived early and it was closed but a young lady informed us that they will open shortly. Went for a soup and sandwich and came back to the movie. As we open the door we were welcome and quickly bought the tickets form the cashier. Also very pleasant. I would guess that the person welcoming us and the cashier were the owners of the place. They really treated personally each person that came into the building. We enjoyed the movie (OK, no 3D, no surround but yes Dolby 7.1) and at the exit the manager/owner again thanked me for coming to the moviesVery pleasant and personal experience. Not the fanciest theatre but you can see that they are customer focused and concerned that people enjoy the outing. I certainly did like it.Also, very reasonable prices. Movie was $9. Popcorn smelled fine but sorry I do not eat those snacks
Small town quaintness up against the giants in the industry. This place is wonderful, as are the staff. Bracebridge is so lucky to have such a gem, it should be treasured =)
3 theatres, top movies, great popcorn, nice peopleJust wish there were weekly or monthly matinees for seniors
We went to see a movie in Bracebridge while there last weekend. This movie theatre is quaint and we had a good time although you could hear the other movie playing in the theatre room next door. This might have been more noticable because the movie we were seeing was on the quieter side.
I do not go to the show often. However this theatre subscribes to SPINNING REELS,Which promote independent films. The one on Monday October 7th featured a movie filmed entirely on the Sligo coast of Ireland. It starred an actor whom I really like. This old theatre has seen some renovations. If there is a fault it is the sound in the theatre itself. You could hear monologue from the next door movie, that was distracting at times. However I cannot say enough about the staff. They are all friendly and helpful. They are always atop the latest movies and will feature a childrens movie. Most often they have a Saturday matinee for families.Great for tourists who do not seem able to find things to do or due to high summer temps find their lake water too hot
Always been a fan of the small hometown theatre and lucky to have one in Bracebridge. Great new sound and picture with old school decor. Brian the owner was generous enough to allow us to do part of our engagement photos there because we're such movie fans! Always recommend for date night or meet with friends. In fact, I'm here right now about to turn my phone off!
A great place to go to on a rainy cottage day! The owners are super nice and friendly! The movies and concessions are well priced too!
We always enjoy a night at the Norwood. Good entertainment and great value on Tuesdays! There is parking near by.
This historic cinema was our saving grace when we had cold rain in August! Great service and loved the vintage items still intact.
Bracebridge is so lucky to have a small town theater that has all the newly released movies just when they come out. Brian and his staff do a top notch job!
My husband and I went here for a date night on our trip to Bracebridge. The place was small and very welcoming. Their food prices were great and they had an impressive selection. We plan to return in the future.
Must see it. We enjoy it. Very up to date movies and great management. It is a must visit when in Bracebridge. Do learn about its history.
I like the home town feeling of service and quaintness. On our July visit the theater celebrated 65 years. The concession is clean and provides fresh snacks.
The Norwood 3 has been around for multiple generations in the hands of the same family. Sound and Visuals are good on the 3 screens, and it's a great place to see everything except huge visual blockbusters ---I travel to Orillia or Barrie for the bigger screens. There is a active film club "Spinning Reels" that shows art house, and classic films in the winter.Norwood Theatre will be jammed with people on a rainy cottage day/evening, especially with a new release of a Disney/Pixar movie. The cottage parents will take it as a welcome break for cabin fever. There are 7pm showings all year, but expanded matinee and late-night shows during the summer. They still don't take debit/credit card, but there is a bank next door. Food options are ok, and not too expensive.Decor is interesting and eclectic, and the staff are very welcoming. If you're in the area, go check it out!
What a beautiful theatre! The building is from another time but impeccably kept by a tremendously gracious pleasant staff. The audio and video are perfect and up to the standards of all the big theatres. We have enjoyed many of the best new releases at the Norwood and will keep on going especially on those rain filled cottage days.
