Being married to a Fish & Chips coinsure, we must hit every pub we come across that may have they delicacy.Queens Head in Oakville is the real British pub, down to British transplants watching real “Football”.But the real news is the food is excellent, especially the aforementioned fish & chips. The staff is also a step above typical pub staff in the friendliness to us obvious strangers playing tourist in thier pub.
Not sure why this is listed as an attraction - it is a restaurant...and not a great one.The service was slow, painfully so and we had to ask for certain things numerous times. The food was average at very best. The nachos were pretty terrible - stale chips, the cheese wasn't melted...so average. The wings were OK - way too expensive for what you got.I would not recommend.
We were just at The Queens Arms restaurant in Oakville and it is neither a real restaurant nor clean. It smells of bleach and the coffee mugs taste if soap. This is the first time in years that we've left without eating the meal that we paid for. My best recommendation may be that this is a pub (referring to it kindly) and to be avoided as a place to eat. Cleanliness is not a strength of this place. When walking around Oakville afterwards it was referred to in very negative terms. If only we had asked before going in.When we ordered fish and chips with mushy peas the server laughed, saying that the Pease were on the menu but not served. The fish is advertised as haddock. To be avoided as a restaurant.
This place has been here for ages and is always good. The curry is second to none and the meat pies are very authentic. Good selection of beers from all over as well. The fireplace is a nice touch in the winter months. I will always be a regular here.
