Last Week I had to pleasure of visiting Campbell's Orchard for the first time on my hunt to find a pumpkin big enough to put my baby in. I made calls to several orchards in the area and Campbell's was one of the only 2 who returned my call, and by far the best at helping me determine that they had what I needed. I visited them that day and found what I was looking for within minutes, I then proceeded to peruse the market for a bit before checking out at the cashier. Campbell's reminded me of being back home on the farm, which I miss so much, and brought back some lovely memories. I instantly loved the market and not only did I want to do my babies photo shoot in one of their pumpkins, but I wanted to do it there at the market! :) I asked the ladies at the counter and they did advise me that there was a fee of around $25 (or something close to that) for doing a photo shoot there. Given the set up and scenery it was not a bad cost at all really. There is another lady who often does photo shoots out there and has a wonderful set up by the way, if anyone is wanting to have some beautiful pictures done I would suggest calling Campbell's Orchard and asking for this ladies contact information. Anyways, back to my visit :). I've read the other reviews on here for Campbell's and while I agree that the prices did seem a little high to me at first glance, once I took into consideration what the money was going to they were actually quite fair. Campbell's is a couple dollars cheaper than the competition for the corn maze by the way. We as consumers often find it easy to complain about the cost of entertainment, but far too often we need to stop and watch where the money is going. We have no problem putting out over $20 a person between tickets and snacks to go see a movie and thus supporting a large chain business, but we do have a problem spending $40 for a family to enjoy quality fun time together, getting some fresh air, being able to chat and be silly, and having a snack as well, not to mention supporting a local business and therefor supporting a family and all of their employees as well. It's all perspective right? If we look at both sides of the coin as the phrase goes, it really is an inexpensive lovely family outing. I did choose to return the next day and brought the baby for her pictures, myself and 2 of my friends had a blast moving from one spot to another for pictures for 2 hours :) While we were there a bus load of school kids arrived and everyone of them had a smile on their face coming and leaving :O) this tells me that Campbell's Orchards not only brought back fond memories and created new ones for me, but for at least 30 of our communities kids, more wonderful memories were made thanks to Campbell's Orchards and lovely experience they provide for all of their guests. Great job to the Owners and lovely staff and Thank you for opening your "Home" to our community.
Our trip to this local farm, was entertaining and economical. Where can you go as a family, share in quality time, and spend under $40?? We went on the wagon ride, that included apple picking, we played at the free playground, and enjoyed viewing the farm animals. This local farm, has it all in regard to a market, great customer service, farm animals in the maze and the smell of apple pie... all the time! We would recommend families to this short drive from Belleville, you won't be disappointed.
First place I have done Apple picking that costs the same as the presaged ones and store bought. Worst was a $3 per adult and $2 for child "wagon" ride in order to go out to pick the apples! Huge rip off. $4 for a regular old hot dog! Not the experience we were looking for. If you want a cute little market it is ok, but Next time we will go back to Cricklewood for our Apple picking experience.
We went to pick apples at Campbell's orchard with five kids and 4 adults. The market is very nice and some of the produce is very reasonable. The problem with Campbell's is that for a family of six, it cost 14 dollars for a few minutes on the hay wagon to get to the orchard to pick apples. The hot dogs were four dollars each so that was another twenty four dollars. Seriously, I felt that the ride to the orchard should be free or a dollar at the most. It is so hard for families today to find anything to do that does not cost a ridiculous amount of money. We dropped thirty eight dollars in a few moments before we even got to pick the apples.
