The Provincial Campground is a beautiful place to stay. You can set up right on the lake. Be sure that you don't mind bears walking around the campsite, because they do. We were there in September, and had no problems finding a spot without having a reservation, but I would make reservations if you are planning to stop here during the summer months.

We stayed at Meziadin Provincial Park in early July of 2014. We were a group of three trailers travelling together and had booked three waterfront spots online back in April. We went with the impression that we would stay at the park and travel in and around Stewart and Hyder, but I didn't realize that it is quite a drive from Stewart, about 45 minutes, so that wasn't really practical. My bad for not doing my research on that one. There is really nothing else in the area to do, so plan on a nice relaxing stay, but bring everything that you need. Ice is available at the store, but not much more than that. We were looking for lots that were serviced with both power and water, and I believed that is what was offered here. We arrived to find a breath-takingly beautiful campground, especially our three sites, which, although completely open to the road and each other, the view was specactular. However, we also found that the water was not available at the sites, but instead was available at one location near the office, where you had to fill your tank. This would not have been so bad, except that there are no showers available at this park, which means that if want to shower in your rv, not only will you need to re-fill your water during your stay, but you would also likely need to empty your tanks, if staying more than a few days. The nearest dump station is in Stewart, a 45 minute drive away. The fishing at this lake was slow, and getting fishing licenses is frustrating. We were told that we had to go to the Government Building in Stewart to get fresh water licenses, but could never find the office open (went three times during the week, each time it was closed). You can also obtain them online, if you can get on the internet. The campground host at this location is extremely helpful, and will offer to have her husband assist you with obtaining the fishing licenses as well. The internet connection was not fantastic, but for $5.00 for your entire stay, was worth it. I would say that to fully enjoy this lake, you would want to have a boat of some kind. Kayaking and canoeing seemed to be very popular, along with the fishing. There is no pier or dock, however, so fishing from shore did not seem to be much of an option. The last thing I will warn visitors about is the bugs, specifically one kind of bug. Let me say that I came to northern BC knowing full well that we would have more bugs than we have at home in central Alberta. That being said, at this particular location, there are a large number of small black bugs, that look like a large aphid (not a noseeum) but they pack an evil bite. After the first night we were all full of large painful itchy bites, that last several days. The only thing that seemed to work on these little critters was Watkins 30% Deet Repellent. Deep Woods Off didn't deter them one bit. I took my two small dogs for a walk our first morning there, and of course they were sniffing about in the grass. When we came back from our walk, their underbellies were covered in these bugs, biting them like crazy, to the point where they were drawing blood faster than I could brush them off. They didn't suffer any lasting effects, but they were pretty uncomfortable for a day or so. Meziadin Lake is a beautiful place, and if you know of these few things beforehand, I hope it would help make your stay a bit more enjoyable.

The sites at this campground are close with not much to separate but being at the water's edge with the view of the lake and mountains beyond is worth it. They let us pay for a half day to leave our camper and go to Stewart & Hyder. Easier to travel without the camper for a few hours. Clean facilities.

We stopped at this park, as we were heading for Stewart via Hwy 37A. This park has a lot of room for RV's as well as tents. At the time that we were there, there were lots of people camping, but not all of the sites were filled. This site provides wonderful scenery, in a quiet and serene area. There are beautiful snow capped mountains that line the backdrop on the western side of the park. There is also ample opportunity for recreational activities like boating, on the lake. This park also provides a great chance to be able to see some wildlife, as well as waterfowl and other types of birds. There is also a bbq/picnic shelter that you're able to use as well. This place would be wonderful for those who are wanting some serenity from the scenery, as well as a flavor of pristine wilderness.
