If you can handle a longer hike this "boat access" only park is quiet and has great sandy beaches with a large tide pool. The currents are strong in the channel, so be aware.
We love this spot with great summer swimming. Supposedly marine access but there are three other possible hiking accesses. We used one. Drive up Porlier Pass Rd from ferry terminal. Past Bodega Ridge turn onto Cook Rd. Continue to sign saying "no Parking beyond this point" and park there. A trail from there on right side should be followed across a log fall about 150 metres then turn off on trail to left. . About 45 minutes from there and moderate hike takes you to road into park (used by park service and a subject of friction with land owners) From there 30 minutes further to gorgeous beach., with great camping.Fee for camping not for day use. Latrines available and water.
Being a marine access only beach means that it is completely unspoiled. It is unfortunate that this beach cannot be experienced by those who are on foot as this is a 'hidden gem' of Galiano. We can only hope that the land owners and the parks department can come to an agreement to create an access corridor to allow everyone to visit this one of a kind park.
Dionisio Park is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Unspoiled, wild and also well maintained. Stunning views of sea and forest and rocky shoreline. Wonderful swimming and sunbathing. Only problem is you can only access it by boat.
