Beautiful path with breathtaking views of the St. Lawrence River. This is a great place for a run! If you want full cardio start from the Dufferin Terrace in front of the Chateau for the 300+ steps, if full on cardio is not your thing start your journey from “les plaines d’Abraham”.
St. Lawrence below, Citadelle above ... Spectacular views! Lots of stairs - travelled from Dufferin Terrace to the Plains of Abraham so uphill the whole way. Do it in reverse if you aren't a fan of stairs!
We were very fortunate to get private tour as we were the only two there for the first tour. A great piece of history!
I am frightened to death of heights, but I did this climb and didn't regret it. If you don't mind a lot of stairs, you'll find some of the best views in Quebec on this walk. Even if you're afraid of heights like I am, it's still worth doing.
Unless you are in top form, my advice would be to start at the top by the Citadelle and work your waydown towards the Terrasse Dufferin, instead of theother way around. The stairs are very sturdy andspacious. The view of the St. Lawrence River isgreat . The sound of shoes on the wood gives a niceauditory ambiance. It is a lovely experience. And free.
Great views of the river below and Chateau Frontenac above. Nice short walk that is worth doing at any time of the day.
Many steps but very easy climb with many rest stops. Good view over the river. It makes you realize what a strong fortress this was in the 1700's.
The Governors Walk is a lovely place to go on a quiet stroll. We walked on it both at night and during the day, and both times were uniquely enjoyable. It connects near the bottom of the Frontenac and goes up the hill to the Citadel. Does get very icy in winter, so be careful.
It is the very beautiful walk which starts at the end of the plains of Abraham has the junction with the citadel near(on the side of) the river. You will have one very beautiful view in the starting up and you will lower(go down) 308 walking(steps) (env 500 m). You will follow the citadel with an impressive and magnificent life. You will arrive in the rear at the terrace Dufférin which is also very beautiful.
Group of stairs around the outside of the fort. A good walk, 330 steps. Enjoy. Walk the promenade to the park a return from the other side of the fort.
A quiet place, timeless ... Ideal for walking, jogging, reading or simply rest. The historic buildings of the fort, are the backdrop to walk.
We found this walk after exploring the grounds of Citadel and the Plains. Numerous walkers and joggers seem to use this as a form of exercise. The 310 steps (we were going down!) run in front of the Citadel, along the St. Lawrence. Great views from here, and the walkway ends on Dufferin Terrace, the popular wide promenade along the edge of the Upper Town.
It is a nice walk, with a good view of the river. If you want to avoid climbing stairs, then you can start from the south end of Citadelle and go down towards the Dufferin Terrace.
This was one of the highlights of the trip for me. The walk starts by the Hotel Frontenac and first it is like an old fashioned promenade from the 1800s by the St Lawrence. Then there are many stairs to climb and you leave the city behind a bit and have a lovely nature walk. We walked all the way to the Citadel and then walked back through the city. It was a gorgeous day and the walk is fantastic exercise with great views. Very charming.
When walking the Dufferin Terrace walk to the end where you will find stairs. An amazing walkway up to the Citadel with breathtaking views of the St. Lawrence. It was one of the highlights of our trip for me.
