The short 5km walk to the Bay is punctuated with eye popping scenery. Rolling hills, dramatic cliffs and a slice of native forest. The walk is pretty easy with a few ups and downs, the steeper sections have proper steps so there is really no slippery scree terrain to worry about. The 1st view point and the most spectacular is about 20 -25 minutes into the walk from there you descend through a wooded area which spills out onto the bay. A couple of minor detours takes you to the Hole in the Wall and the Historical monument which is a 5 min walk up a grassy path. The return is simply a retracing of steps. 2 hours if you don't stop for photos easily 3 if you explore the cove. Excellent walk.

We took our 6yr and 4yr old on this walk and they did well. We only plamned to b go to the cooks cove look out 20min one way, was a really enjoyable walk. Wear good walking shoes and take plenty of water. Can't wait to get to the cove when the kids are older.

The lookout and the hole in the wall are gorgeous so well worth the climb. We did the walk in just over 2 hours but hurried a little. Needs some fitness and good shoes, specially when wet.

Worth the climb, a great view from the lookout and nice bush walk as well. Check the time of the year though as this walk is closed during lambing season. Track well marked and scenic.

Only went as far as the lookout (20 mins in) as we were pushed for time, but it was well worth it! Great views out to Cooks Cove as well as North and South. Good mix of stairs and farm track, tree cover and open paddocks. Quite steep in places, you'll earn the view! Did it when it was bone dry, I'd imagine it's a little slippery when wet. Definitely need to come back and finish the whole track!

Challenging not suitable for non active elderly, a great walk over farm land and climbing fences, historic and definitely worth the effort to get to the end. Once is not enough. Only dislike was it rained at times.

This is a real must do when you visit the East Cape. Take your time and enjoy the gorgeous walk up and down - you can almost feel the almost 300 years since Cook visited and the emotion of the time. The views are out of this world, and the reward is truely rewarding. The natural bridge is just like early drawings of Cooks' party. This clearly shows the genius that Cook was with the mapping almost perfect of what he saw and to what is. Without a doubt one of my favourite experiences of the East Coast road trip.

Somewhat steep (no scambling), but lovely views from the top and beautiful scenery along the way. You don't have to go the entire 6 miles to get to the first vista point - that's more like 2 miles and will take an hour roundtrip. The entire hike is 2.5 hours. Well worth the time and effort to get there. And visit the Tolago Bay Historic Wharf (which is right next door) while you are there.

An excellent walk with some great views - steepish steps down from the lookout but worth the effort. Track runs through paddocks and bush
