Love attending the Farmers Market which is held on every Saturday of the year, The stall holders sometimes change over the seasons with Spring through to Autumn being the best times to visit as far as what produce is available. It is great to be able to taste the lovely fruits and breads and meats etc of the Barossa and surrounds.
We enjoyed out trip to the market in early January although we left it a bit late and some of the stalls had already started to run out of produce. The variety and quality of the food were very good indeed. Definitely worth a visit if self catering in the Barossa Valley.
Great little markets.!!All the fresh produce from the local farmers in one little place. Love the smoked salmon & fresh fruit n veg on offer. Big line up for one of the best coffee in the Barossa Valley :)
Great place, but get there early. We went mid morning this time and the bread stall which sells unbelievably yummy bread in all shapes and sizes were cleaning up their stall as they had sold out of their bread. The breakfast burgers are also great. If you hate crowds, pushing your way through groups of people who think that blocking the walkway while they toy over what stall to look at next then defiantly go early in the morning.
Great variety of local produce and products. It goes from 0730 to 1130 so the best buys are early. We got the best bacon and eggs, a great christmas pudding.......
Don't miss this if in the area on a Saturday morning! Superb range of freshest fruit, vegetables, breads, meats, etc you could imagine all served in a typical friendly, country manner. Wish I had access to something like this in my home town in NSW! Don't miss trying the bacon and egg rolls- truly so tasty!!! Take your shopping basket with you or buy a calico bag from the market- will be full in no time!
I was surprised how small this market was but it was a nice place to wander around and spend some time on a Sat morning. The busiest stall was the stall selling breakfast and coffee. It had a fairly long line and seating was minimal, but everyone seemed happy to share tables. The breakfast burger was $9.50 but was large and delicious. Service was good. Once we had eaten we wandered around the stalls. Lots of free tastings if you want. Fresh local produce which we purchased for lunch for later (not cheap though). Certainly worth a visit if you are in the Barossa. A great way to spend an hour.
We always plan a trip to the Barossa knowing we are going to go to this Market. Lots of samples and the stall holders are very passionate about their produce. If you go there with the intent of filling your picnic hamper you will not be disappointed. We did not have breakfast there this time as the seating area was very crowded and we really didn't feel like squeezing in. But we have eaten there on another visit and the food was top quality.
This was a great Saturday morning outing, lots of different stalls and all the stall holders willing to talk and tell you about their produce. There were lots of samples to try and this made the morning informative and a tasting experience. We bought lots of products and were given advice on how to store them and how long they would last etc, as we were travelling in a van. Great bread, thanks to the stall holder who cut the loaf in half for us to purchase as the loaf was really too big for 2 of us.Also got some amazing little red spanish type onions(never seen small ones like this before)which were so sweet.
Great bread, dried fruit, fruit and veg, ver juice etc etcThey're not too large or too crowded. Wouldve liked some more cheeses, loved the smoked salmon and trout and ciabatta bread
We were pleasantly surprised that the produce here was of gourmet standard with your typical rustic quality, a nice place to pick up a picnic hamper for later
We were staying in the Vineyards Motel across the street, and were told by our friends that we should head to the market for breakfast (instead of driving into Nuriootpa, etc). Best advice!!!The market was teeming with fresh local produce, and there were so many samples from each of the producer. Everyone was so friendly and happy for us to sample their wares. The breakfast burgers are TO DIE FOR!!! Everything about it is amazing. So delicious, and full of flavour. You simply MUST HAVE ONE!We met Maggie Beer while at the market. It was the topper on the amazing experience that was the Barossa Farmers Market.
The Barossa Farmers market is a great way to pass time on a Saturday morning. There is a variety of local fresh produce for sale at reasonable prices. Farm fresh milk is the best.
Amazing great produce, breads, cured meats, cheeses, fruit and vege and preserved. Must go!! Good prices with lots to sample. Only till 1130 so get in early. Heaps of parking.
Not the biggest market in the world but one that's bursting with local produce. Fresh baked bread, fruit and vegies along with meats and smallgoods, while all being undercover. Plenty of food options and the hot smoked seafood from Hahndorf was sensational. It has a real local flavour of community
