It's a long way from anywhere except the magnificent surf of Cactus and the insanely good Oysters of Ceduna. Oh yes the reason I was in Penong was because I was on my way to the dirt track motor racing at Ceduna.

The history of this area starts in the 1890's / 1900's.It would have been heartbreaking, back breaking work clearing the scrub, doubtful rainfall area and a long way from anywhere.The museum covers the history of this far west coast marginal cropping area of South Australia, well set out, a great range of used materials, old books and magazines relating to the area and well worth a stop, on the Eyre Highway at the edge of the small town of Penong.A gold coin donation at the door.
