Was in Adelaide with the family and a trip to victor harbour was an excellent day out. The tram was amazing and I couldn't believe the horse managed to pull the tram even though he was huge. We had a great time and the memory with live with us forever
Loved this being able to either walk over the bridge or go by the Horsedrawn Tram. Would do it again.
When to Grantie Island todayGot down the walkway about 10.15amWaited for the horse tram nothing in sightWalk across and looked around timetable states that the horse tram is every 1/2 hrLeft to walk back across the walkway at 12pm still no horse in sightwhen we arrived back the horses were just getting readyVery disappointed as this was something that I was looking forward to Once again if they stated times why dont they stick to it or put a notice up A lot of other people were disappointed also first time was 9amShame on Victor Harbour I disappointed person
Made access to Granite Island a lot easier for me with two dodgy knees. There can't be many horse drawn trams left in the world especially not in this condition. Superb trip not to be missed.
If you visit Victor Harbor, a trip on the tramway is a must. The carriages are well maintained and the horses are an attraction in their own right.I was advised that the cafe at the seaward end is about to close down as a cost saving measure. If this is correct, it will be a great shame as a well run operation on this site should be able to pay for itself and make a profit, given the excellence of the tramway service.
Beautiful horses doing a great job and very well looked after by the owners. This attraction has been going for years and is very well known
it's absolutely one of the highlights at victor harbor. the ride takes approx. 15min (one way) and is worth doing it.
Woderful way to leave the island for the children. Great to be able to step back in time and experience the tram in all its glory.
Went across the causeway and back with family (3 kids age 10-3) who all really enjoyed it. Great views. Amazing staff who allowed the kids to pat the horses in the stable that weren't working and took the time to talk to them and answer their questions about the horses names. Had a ball!
A good way to travel over to Granite Island, kids enjoyed the tram ride. It was busy during holiday time but ran more often.
On a fine day, there is nothing better than to sit on the top deck of the tram and admire the views of Victor Harbor and Granite Island. It can be a bit expensive, although it is perfectly acceptable to only go one way as the walk across the causeway is very pleasant. A good deal is to get a special entry ticket at the SA Whale Centre which gives a big discount on the normal entry for both attractions. My only complaint is that the return tram has to wait a long time at the island terminus if there are two trams operating, waiting for the other one to get across to the island as the crossing point is about 3/4 of the way over on Granite Island. If it is hot and sunny and kids are irritable, it can be a long wait. There is nothing that can be done other than wait, so if you are only going one way, choose to walk back to the mainland.
If you're not up for the 1.3 km walk then the horse drawn tram is your only other choice. It is a bit of a novelty, moving at walking pace, but we were only too happy to ride along due to the wet weather.Kids will love it.
Nice little reminder of yesteryear and is worth timing your visit for the penguin feeding.Great for little kids.
what a good way to travel over to the island and back just relaxing and enjoying the view perfect day
The horsedrawn tram is a great family activity that is good value and a great way to get across to the island. It is very popular so expect a lot of people on the way back from the island.
