Visited Urimbirra with my partner and 3 y.o. It definitely left a big impression on us all; having only been to typical zoos where all the animals are caged, it was extremely refreshing to see what seemed like hundreds of roos and the odd peacock and emu so 'free range'. Feeding them was even nicer! It's been 3 days and my son mentions it everyday and has even started telling me bed time stories of the animals we saw there (so far has featured many joeys, snakes, koalas and even a story solely on the lone echidna there). Thank you to the staff and establishment for giving us these memories which I'm sure will last a lifetime!
Quite small but really well laid out. Good value at $10 each. Buy some kangaroo feed at the start. Also worth taking a picnic with you.
We had a lovely few hours visiting Urimbirra were the animals are all friendly and happy and well cared for. We had 2 visitors from the Czech Republic who were eager to feed kangaroos and pat koalas and were not disappointed. The park is kept very much like the animals natural habitat and we all had a great time. We didn't stay for any food or drinks as there was a large number of people there when we returned to the reception area, but the cafe looked clean and comfy and the souvenir shop was well stocked. Very glad we took our overseas relatives to Urimbirra.
All the family enjoyed the visit. The kids fed the kangaroos, met the koalas and saw various other animals. We really enjoyed the park, the staff were great, the animals were so well looked after. Great experience
Having been to a lot of wildlife parks, this is really good and a must if you have international visitors. Time your visit for the crocodile feeding, koala and snake handling. Great photo opportunities at no extra charge. Not superficial like many other places. Great value with no hidden extras. We loved the open range feel. They have no government funding - so buy a coffee or something from the gift shop. Refreshing to see a gift shop which is not overpriced with a huge range of Australian themed nice souvenirs.
we took our grandchildren with us 18 month old twin boys, we drive pas all the itme but was the first time we had visited, I must admint we were pleasantly surprised, they have a wonderful range of animals, the boys loved the kangaroos, lots of them!!and you can buy bags of food to feed them, you can pat the koalas, and the walk thru bird enclosure is great, parrots are beautiful, and to our surprise they even have a crocodile, will definately be returning with our grand daughter next time.
We spent a day there after thinking we'd only spend a morning there, we met a few friends with their children and had a great day. Meeting the koala's and getting up close and feeding the kangaroos and the goats was brilliant and all the kids loved it. There's a wee play area up by the shop to keep them busy when you stop for a while, although food was limited. The facilities were fairly poor, but other than that a great day.
Great place to visit with family and friends', offering great walks through various animal enclosures. The animals are friendly and approachable. Great variety of animals to touch and interact with.Lunch and dinner at the Urimbirra Restaurant is an excellent meal and the best value in Victor Harbor.
We took our 20 month old daughter to urimbirra yesterday and she absolutely loved it. She was able to safely run around and interact with all of the animals, hand feed the kangaroos and have a pat of a koala. Beautiful shady grounds and lots to see and do for kids of this age group. It was beautiful to see the excitement and delight on our daughters face! Only down side is they don't do organised children's parties and we would have loved to have our daughters next birthday party there. But they are happy for you to organise your own kids party and bring your own food etc.
Excellent experience. We got up close with so many amazing native animals. The facility is very well maintained, felt very comfortable with my family.Would strongly recommend this to anyone, especially kids.
Our stay in Victor Harbour included a trip to the Wildlife Park which is a private venture, loved it especially feeding time for the Koalas you can get up and close with them and stroke them while they eat.
Great opportunity to get close to the Kangaroos and Koalas - touch them, feed them. A nice picnic spot as well to carry your own food and have a quick brunch in their company! Loved it.
If you want to meet all the native animals of Australia, go there. You can also feed the kangaroos and pet the koala. It was really hard to get the children out from the park.
Urimbirra hits the spot when it comes to experiencing the local creatures - it's not a massive place and doesn't need to be. The highlight is the very friendly Kangaroo Island Kangaroo's who are very tame and easily hand fed, but they also have the koalas, emus, crocodiles, plenty of birds and reptiles. An afternoon well spent.
Had picnic lunch prior to seeing animals in park, but could have a better area for same with kiosk. Loved all the animals who are so friendly ie kangaroos etc. Able to touch and photograph koalas. The children loved it and cheaper than some wildlife parks.
