The ferry is very well patronised and can be very busy, so it is best to be early to avoid disappointment. The long wait was worth it, the crew are very experienced in managing the large volume of traffic and the trip across to the island was a great start to a very memorable day.

My daughter took us for a drive from Hobart to Kettering and we not only loved the scenery but Kettering Harbor; the Ferry coming and going; and the coffee at the local Ferry café. The place is so peaceful as if it is on another planet. All we did while sipping our nice and affordable coffee was watching the occasional sailing boat and fisherman and ferry. No we did not go across to Bruny Island in the ferry but will do that on another day. This is a nice get-a-way from Hobart's hustle and bustle trip! I recommend it to young and old. Have fun:-)

We were greeted at the entrance to the Kettering ferry terminal by a truly helpful lady who explained a few of the basic points of interest and assisted us with fresh information. We had arrived just as the traffic started to load onto the ferry. We were directed to the lower deck and ended up toward the front and had an easy view of where we were going when we left the dock. On our return trip we scored the top deck and were treated to an even better voyage....and view.
