I purposely set out to visit Logan Estate after experiencing their wines at an exclusive degustation meal at The Red Lantern in Sydney last year. Prior to that evening I wasn't familiar with Logan Wines and since then I have become a convert. Their Weemala Pinot Gris is divine and every wine enthusiast that I have shared this with has loved it as much as me. Their cellar door is fabulous. You will be greeted by extremely knowledgable staff who are eager to please and happy to help in any way they can. It is magical sitting there looking out over the ridge and taking in what Mudgee has to offer. Their Logan Sav Blanc is also nice as is their Logan dessert wine but our favourite is definitely the Weemala Pinot Gris and the Weemala Riesling. Definitely the pick of the Mudgee Wine trail.
Logan is my favourite wine and now having been to the winery, I'm even more in love with it. The staff at the cellar door were so helpful and happy to have a chat about the wine. The day we went they have a live acoustic performer there who was fantastic! The actual location is beautiful with a stunning view. The venue is perfect for a romantic trip, group of friends or even families!
We were advised before you leave Mudgee you have to go to Logan Wines. We are glad we did...The tasting room is perched on the side of a hill. State of the art construction with glass window walls and a deck overlooking the grape vines and valley vista. The staff were very pleasant and knowledgeable. You can also get a coffee. The Apple Tree Flat wines are very reasonable in price. We will definately come here again...
We're in mudgee for a few days and decided to visit the Logan cellar door.Delicious wines, beautiful venue and staff who really went out of their way to be warm and hospitable. We had such a lovely afternoon. I highly recommend the Logan cellar door. Based on our experience I think we'll be patrons for years to come.
On a recent trip to Mudgee we called in at Logan Wines and were very impressed by the location and the beautiful view across the valley from the building. You can have coffee and cake and relax in the lounge area while enjoying the outlook. The wines are excellent and we purchased their Pinot Noir and Merlot.
We decided this would be a first stop on our way from Sydney to Mudgee. Read on website that a cheese platter was available there. That could be a light lunch. When we arrived, we asked about the platter. Yes, available. Thank you, we will have one. In the meantime, we tried the available wines. Local Apple Tree Flat wines were (to us) very light. We were told it was because they were 'cool climate wines'. Next, we went for middle of the range...not from immediate area. Still light..Once again, we were told they were cool climate wines. Then we went for their 'top of the line'.... It was farcical to be told yet again that the lightness could be attributed the the cool climate!!!... The Mudgee area has many quality fuller bodied wines.....more depth of flavour. We then asked about our cheese platter. We were told it could not be organised till we and one other couple had finished our tasting. How long does it take to organise a cheese platter? ..Next question....what sort of cheeses? Only two. We left. The first time that I can recall leaving a winery without buying a bottle of some sort. Yes, the building was stunning...but that was it. We left and ventured farther. We found a winery outside Mudgee....Blue Wren...where we had a delicious lunch and we were greeted by winery staff who, to us, had an apparent less condescending manner. We did not hear the term 'cool climate' to describe or justify any of the wines here.
Have just come back from Mudgee - the trip was inspired by an article on tv that featured Logan Wines. The tasting room is spectacular, beautiful floor to ceiling glass and absolutely stunning view. Enjoyed sampling the wines, Karen was very friendly and informative. Sat and enjoyed cheese platters and we all came away having purchased wine. Well worth the drive
What a bar this place set for the rest of the weekend! The sommelier was brand new into the winery, having come from our Hunter Valley favour bimbagen, but she definitely hooked us into the logan brand quickly, and the tasting was completely free. Our favourites were the gewurtztraminer and the moscato, but if you're a red lover definitely give their shiraz a go too. Not our favourite drop but we walked away with 3 bottles of the logan brand irrespectively. Very professional, very friendly, and an AMAZING view overlooking the valley beyond. Definitely worth the stop.
We visited the Logan Winery in November 2013. The facility is beautiful; a sparkling glass structure extending from the hillside with a panoramic view of the valley. Jessica, our sommelier, was neat and knowledgeable. She led us through their entire gamut of delicious wines with appropriate small portions. Down the way was the winemaker and owner, Peter Logan, who contributed from time to time. What a privilege to taste wines with such a talented fellow! The wines were all very good, some spectacular. And they were extremely well priced. Had we realized that these were to be the best wines we would be served in Mudgee, we would have bought more. We only had one more week in Australia and we were sure that the other wineries in Mudgee would be competitive. Logan's was by far the best. The Logan winery is 16 km south of Mudgee, but well marked on the highway. There was no fee for this incredible tasting.
Love Logan, one of our favourite wineries, great value wines, the team are always so warm and welcoming. Our recent visitor was my fourth, this time with the family and we were greeted no differently. You can not go to Mudgee for wine or any other reason without visiting Logan, it is a must. A little further out of town, as noted by others, but save it for your trip out of town, try some wines and watch the sun move across the valley and mountains beyond. It is hard to find a more refined yet relaxing cellar door. Our 3 boys were made welcome with a big bucket of pens to colour and draw on the tents just below the terrace.Looking forward to my next trip to Mudgee, I already know where it will finish!
Have to agree with the previous person, it's a fantastic cellar door.Really nice wines too. It's a bit further away from town than most of the other wineries but it's definitely worth a stop on the way in or out of Mudgee.
Recently awarded the 2012 Gourmet Traveller Wine Cellar Door of the year and deservedly so! The attention to detail here is superb and they know their wines. We were here over easter and kids were well looked after with blackboards to colour and tents to draw on. Cheese platters and food good too. Award winning wines - try the Hannah rose, Riesling and sparklings - this is an unforgettable cellar door!
Logan Winery is one of our favorite places to visit around Mudgee. In fact, whenever we have visitors stay, we take them to either Logan's and/or Pieter Van Gent. The setting is picturesque, on a hill overlooking the vines, a dam and the hills of Mudgee, very romantic. The building is modern architectural but very welcoming, it creates a great atmosphere, the staff are always friendly, the wines are beautiful, not entirely catering for the sweeter palate, but the Moscato and Rose are gorgeous. They offer a delicious cheese platter and wine, or coffee and cake, very nice taken on the canterlevered space overlooking the view!It ticks all of the boxes and more... I can't fault this place, except for the weird dalmation that wanders around showing its teeth at you occasionally.Very highly recommended as an outing if anyone is passing through Mudgee.
