One of Australia's hidden gems, my idea of heaven.Went with friends and their family good for all ages. When you finish with the beach then explore the wildlife in the bush.

Callala Bay is an amazing place to visit, Relax and enjoy your own time. Watch the boats or go for a ride.

This beach is one of the best beaches in Shoalhaven area. We visited many time here and we all enjoyed. There is a good boat ramp next to the beach. It is easy to launch your boat into Jervis bay. We did lot of boating activities near this beach,

Good kitchen and living area. Well equipped kitchen, nice big space and oversize dining table. Bedrooms appalling, not clean and pokey. One en suite bathroom but the other had to service six people and not really adequate. Nice size garden and deck good for kids. Would I rent it again. No. For the price should have had better and cleaner accommodation. Callala Beach is lovely and recommended as a great family village and beach. The local coffee and paddle board / kayak hire shop was great, friendly owner.

Calm, clean waters, absolutely beautiful!We could even take our dog along.One of the prettiest beaches anywhere !

Following a string of mediocre cafes and pizza shops, Callala Bay finally has an excellent place to eat. Fantastic food, great service and good value.Not just fresh seafood as well. Bottle shop next door too. Relaxed enough for a tired family after an exhausting day on the beach!

One of the few boat ramps on Jervis Bay.. wide concrete low gradient ramp. Long jetty... channel between moored boats out into the bay..

The Sixth Sense recently opened in Callala Bay. What an amazing team and amazing food.We have eaten there three times now and the service and food is to die for. Each time it has been sensational and we would highly recommend to anybody wanting to dine out to try The Sixth Sense. The fresh fish is actually fresh and Grant knows exactly how to cook it. Well done to Grant, Simone, Matt, Lisa and all the team on a fantastic real menu and friendly atmosphere to wine and dine. Cheers David and Janene

Beautiful white sandy beach with small waves, perfect for familiesVery protected when the northerly wind is blowing.. There were hundreds of dolphins just off shore when we were there.. Some public toilets were there and were relatively clean.. Can't wait to return..

This is an amazing and very quiet beach. The sand is really white and there is noone around. Loved it. If you want to get away from crowded Sydney beaches, pass by 7 Miles Beach and then head to Jervis Bay and have a swim at Callala Beach.

We have a house at Callala and absolutely love it. Driving down from Sydney, we tend to go the M2, M7 then take the Picton turnoff to Wollongong. You can drive through Berry or go via Gerringong / seven mile beach, the latter trip is more scenic. It's approx a three hour drive from north of sydney, traffic can be pretty horrendous through the sydney tunnels on a Friday afternoon though. There is a train from central redfern to Bomaderry (ie Nowra) but then you don't have a way to get to Callala, so a car is essential.The sea is mainly calm and crystal clear, and a little cold at the start of summer. After severe storms it can dump a fair amount of seaweed on the beach though - we have seen red seaweed and brown seaweed, but the beach is so long you should always find somewhere to swim.Callala has a very small shopping centre, but there is a new Woolworths at culburra (which also has our favourite Chinese restaurant, the Sun Sun!).Often we walk along the beach and see dolphins playing close to shore; look out for the sea eagles and don't forget the black cockatoos, which make a very distinctive cry.If you want a quiet, peaceful holiday, have dogs and/or young children, this is the place for you! Nowra is around 20 minutes away, so on rainy days there is Nowra cinema. Huskisson is around half an hour away for a choice of more restaurants, different walks or a whale watching cruise. scuba diving courses are offered at a dive centre in Huskisson.Callala is not normally a surfing beach (unless there is a swell after a storm) try Culburra for that or even Caves Beach at the National Park. Some more ideas: theres a pleasant walk to a wreck at currarong, snorkelling at Honeymoon Bay, visit the Nowra zoo, or have fish and chips at Greenwell Point (the pelican rocks is our favourite). For Italian, I recommend Trevi Foutnain in Nowra, but you have to book at both or you might be disappointed.

Jervis Bay is a hidden gem and close to both Sydney and Canberra. Perhaps the most beautiful beach on the Bay is Callala Beach. A bit more than 5kms long, only a small section of beach is fronted by homes. Callala Beach is a compact community but has one of the best Italian / pizza restaurants (Salute) and the lovely Paddle Cafe. A lovely relaxing village only 20 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Nowra.......just don't tell anyone about it!
