I found this place really interesting with a great smount of varied things to see the people at the front door were really nice and helpful and talk to us about some of the objects on display for a gold coin donation you really can't go wrong
This centre is really well organised and quite extensive. The staff were attentive and very helpful. My visit was principally to research the famous Cooee march of World war 1 for a book I am writing and the gallery devoted to the march includes a large number of artefacts as well as a range of photographs taken during the march. There also other galleries including one devoted to the aboriginal history of the area.Entry to the complex requires only a gold coin donation !Good range of souvenirs and books available for purchase as well.(Make sure you also visit the Rural Museum next door - Very different but fascinating in it's own way)
The Coo-ee Heritage and Visitor Centre is not just a visitor centre with the usual pamphlets, souvenirs and great service, but also has four galleries. These showcase a range of memorabilia from people who have lived in the Gilgandra area over the generations, cultural and significant artefacts and indigenous/ aboriginal history, local pioneer historical items which also include the famous 1915 Coo-ee march and other local exhibitions of artists that do change on a regular basis. You can spend a couple of hours here easily and is well worth the stop-over.
