We were recommended by friends to visit this estate which lies just outside Kentucky, a tiny village near Uralla in the New England region of NSW. We actually drove past as the signage isn't obvious. What a gem! The first thing you notice is the great graphic design and sense of humour. The staff (and the owner who is serving too) are so friendly and welcoming (even though they were busy with a busload). Stephen Dobson has made a piece of heaven in the paddock... we never even got time to taste their Dobson's wines and beers; just a fabulous experience of tasting his gin, orange blossom vodka, and 2 wonderful Irish-style whiskeys; and finish off with Le Caf, his coffee liqueur, served with a melting blob of icecream (you do pay for the sampling but it is worth it). The restaurant was booked out, but we can't wait to visit again, to eat, to taste the rest of his wares, and to enjoy great hospitality. They were even renovating an old train carriage for future accommodation. Well worth the drive (from anywhere!)
