Great walking tracks, beautiful picnic spot and a lovely place for a wedding ceremony. Next to the Adventure Playground, it's an ideal spot to take the family for the afternoon for lunch or grab a coffee and a book and rest under many of the beautiful trees in the gardens
We went to walk around the gardens on a surprisingly cold, wet day in January. They are lovely, with some interesting sculpture here and there, lovely lawns, interesting displays of fruit trees and lovely stands of native trees. A lot of the areas look quite new and under construction still. We walked the "Country Walk" in both directions - I'd guess once around is about a kilometre, maybe 1.5km, on a good, well-made gravel path that you could easily manage with a stroller or wheelchair.
A nice walk where you can let your children run around. There is a large pond where you feed the ducks. There are apple trees growing in the botanical gardens, where kids can pick up the apples from the ground. You can also take a picnic in and sit on the grass. There are no bike tracks through the park.
Not much to see or do in the gardens. Would be a nice place for a picnic if you bring one. Went there for a walk which was nice
we used to come for the kids and the playground, but now a leisurely stroll among all the trees, it was relaxing break and it was interesting to see the constant improvement to the garden. Well done, especially to the volunteers.
An awesome place to visit nice gardens to see and some nice quite areas to sir and listen to birds also can have a picnic as nice gardens to sit in and relax
Interesting botanical gardens. Would be a great place for a picnic. Lots of paths around water features and garden beds.
Theses gardens are outstanding value, very well looked after with many lovely restful shady areas under beautiful mature trees. You could allow a good two hours strolling around, weather permitting. Go there early while the temperature is still cool.
Liked the peaceful nature and flower garden styles. A pleasant walk around the gardens to feel at ease.
It's very open and looks nice but doesn't have a lot of variety. Would be good for taking your kids to on a family weekend.
Visited the gardens in late July (23/07/2014) and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. Beautiful views of the surrounding countryside was very soothing for 'urban' eyes. The sun-dial was a very interesting feature. We enjoyed the duck pond as well as walking though the gardens and seeing the wattles and red-flowering gum trees.
The gardens are defiantly worth a visitor especially if you like a stroll and to be close to nature. We had visited before when the gardens were in full bloom but still enjoyed wandering around and enjoying the water features in Winter. There were actually a few Spring flowers beginning to bloom too.
A perfect place for a lovely walk and to see lots of birds and beautiful flowers and trees. There is a lake to walk around and a café beside the car park.
A beautiful place, peaceful, with charming sights around every corner. But like too many Botanic Gardens the labelling of plants leaves much to be desired. In many places there are no labels at all, and in other places labels have been obscured by the foliage of the plant they're describing. I may be unusual, but when I see an interesting plant, shrub or tree I want to know what it's called, where it's from, what it's used for. The Botanic Gardens in Darwin were prime offenders in this, and most other gardens are little better.
These are attractive, well designed gardens. The rose garden was lovely, even on a cold and snowy day in May. The weather was unseasonably cold, and a brisk walk in the rain helped to warm us up. Worth visiting.
