Our trip on the Husky ferry was one of those great surprises that is all the better for being unexpected. I feel like a bit of a cheap skate for haggling over the cost with Dave, especially when on our trip it became apparent that small business is doing it tough and bigger businesses are trying to muscle out this local gem. The kids loved travelling up river, and so did we and we also got to see the local string rays that all have names, e.g Billy Ray Cyrus. The ferry also does sunset cruises, which would have been great had time allowed. A highlight of our south coast trip.

We went for a trip with family ,and even though we had too many for the trip it did not take too long for the return. It is not that far to Husky, but this was a great alternative to driving, and something a little different to do. The trip was made all the more pleasant by the commentary of our " ferry master" we had lunch at the club, which was good although there many alternatives, and wandered around, followed by a very pleasant return trip to Myola, I would highly recommend the ferry.

Husky Ferries takes the pedestrian or bicyclist across Currambene Creek from Myola on the north shore to Huskisson on the south shore. The ferry is really no more than a barge or a punt but it seats about 10 with room for bicycles. The ferry ride takes 10 - 15 minutes and the ferry master makes the ride enjoyable spruiking the benefits of the Shoalhaven and Jervis Bay. The ferry runs on weekends and more often during the school holidays (check the webiste). On the day we went we had a large group and it was no trouble for the ferry to drop us off in Huskisson and then go straight back and get the rest of our group. The ferry leaves off the beach at the southern end of Catherine street in Myola nd from the jetty just below the RSL club in Huskisson. It has a roof but no sides, if it was raining you would get wet. If you had a weel chair or stroller these would need to be carried off and onto the ferry - depnding on the tide at the Huskisson end a low tide may mean hoisting the stroller/wheelchair up or down from the wharf.
