Thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon tour around Birdsville and out to Big Red. Kylie is a great guide with an extensive knowledge of the local history , flora and fauna and practical knowledge of the outback. The afternoon was topped off with a few bubbles to watch the sunset at Big Red . Was definitely the highlight of my stay in Birdsville. Many thanks.

We were picked up from our accommodation and on the way to the Big Red we saw numerous landmarks around Birdsville, including the racecourse, camping grounds, Geothermal station and artesian bore, as well as the previous old hospital, Royal Hotel and the local school (with 5 students). As we had flown in we had not experienced driving over the very bumpy corrugated roads, and after 41 Kms we were glad to reach Big Red, the biggest sand dune of approx 11,300 in the Simpson desert. What a glorious sight; the colours and expanse of the dunes is absolutely stunning, especially when we could sit on the top of the dune around a table with a good variety of bubbles, wine and nibbles in between running up and down the dunes and watching the sunset. Great fun and brilliant commentary for $75 per person.

A lovely evening atop a sand dune on the way to the Simpson Desert! Lots of folks were out there, as we went during Birdsville Race week. Drinks and nibblies were set out for us - beer, champagne, softdrinks. We were driven to the top in the 4WD bus. It is quite a distance from town, but we were told lots of stories about the people, the town and the country along the way. Really good evening.

Loved every minute of my trip to the races . Attended by bus(kangaroo bus lines) so I could visit the country and admire the view. What a gorgeous place to visit magical colours. With accommodation set up on arrival and food catered for loved it all. Suggestion take friends and family to help enjoy the experience.

Great time on the Big Red Sunset Tour. Picked up from our free camp just out of town. Town tour then out to Big Red. Drinks & nibblies supplied to watch the sunset. Excellent. Then to add to the outback experience a dust storm rolled in.

If you are in Birdsville you can't leave until you experience the "Desert Edge Tours" with Kylie Scott. The tour around Birdsville town Kylie took us from Birdsville to the Sand Hills of the west and we drank bubbly at sunset after a most interesting drive out. Our cameras worked over time capturing the beautiful scenery and especially the glorious sun set. Kylie has a bubbly personality and gives a running commentary on everything you pass, nothing is left to guess work and her passion for her district was very obvious. We were made so welcome and comfortable during the trip out and our safety was paramount to her. You can't possibly leave Birdsville before going on this tour.Kay and Diana C

Myself, my husband and my son did the sunset tour tonight. I can't say anything except it was brilliant! They are so accommodating and hospitable people. If you come to Birdsville the town tour and sunset tour with this company is a MUST DO activity.

Desert Edge Tours are a wonderful way to see Birdsville and Big Red. Kylie organised a lovely evening for us to watch the sun set over Big Red. She brought chairs, tables, a bottle of bubbly and gourmet snacks and a wonderful, personable approach to the tour. She's quite knowledgeable about the area and very passionate, which shines through. She does a range of tours in the region but I definitely recommend the Big Red sunset tour if nothing else.

Local knowledge, easy to get along with, flexible, loves their area and showing it. They have a variety of basic packages and can adjust the criteria to suit clients. I'd describe it as excellent value for money. They have recently purchased a four wheel drive bus that will get larger groups, and their belongings into, and out of, the more remote arid regions and the Channel Country.

Kylie was the perfect host for our tour, which was extremely personal. She spoilt us rotten and even though she had just had friends arrive for a visit she did not rush our tour. The knowledge about the area, the channel country and sand dunes was terrific. A must do for all visitors, and worth every cent! Thanks Kylie.
