birdsville races

Driving there is horrible, driving back hungover is worse. The beer is expensive, you have to walk kms to get to your campsite - wouldn't have it any other way. Must-do Aus experience. No fights, no bull.

Loved Birdsville, the Pub, Brophy's boxing tent and horse racing and the activities leading up to the races were interesting and fun. Big Red is a must especially the sunset, watching the 4x4 drivers trying to concour the sandhill is very entertaining. Very commercialised, did not feel that bush racing atmosphere, a bit disappointed with the lack of food outlets at the races, make sure you get there early for a feed or eat before you go and take a chair!
