Having walked many parts of NZ (especially the area around Glenorchy) it was a surprise to notice in the library, work by Neil. I had no idea that he'd "crossed the ditch" and was now residing in Cunnamulla. Lucky me, as I bought his work of Paradise Homestead! It is now on one of my walls, evoking memories of a wonderful part of the world. Thanks (Neil and Judy) for your hospitality and a pleasant interlude to the start of 2 months outback travelling.
A visit to Spence's gallery was the start of a wonderful 6 days in Cunnamulla. Spence and Judy made us very welcome. We viewed the art, learnt about the printing process in the studio and enjoyed lovely scones with jam and cream that Judy had made. We bought two stunning works and over the next few days had many interesting encounters and conversations with Spence, Jude and other Cunnamulla folk that we met through their recommendations and introductions. A must for art lovers when visiting Cunnamulla. Thanks again for adding to our enjoyment of your town. We will spread the word about your art work and Hospitality.
Neil and Judy have opened their home up to visitors four days a week 10.00 am to 2.00pm to view his amazing artwork. Woodblock printing would demand a great deal of skill and patience and Neil shows you the process and the amazing end results. Each print is limited to a maximum of ten preserving the value of the artwork purchased. I purchased one of prints of the local Warrego River which sits proudly in my reception area of my establishment and draws plenty of interest from travellers. Definitely worth a visit,
Our visit to Cunnamulla was highlighted by seeing the wonderful display at the Neil Spencer Gallery. The beauty of Neil's works was absolutely mind-blowing. His explanation of the various techniques used to produce his art work really made us appreciate what an incredible talent this artist possesses. This is a tourist must for all travelling through this lovely outback town.
If you're coming to Cunnamulla, you have to stop by and meet "The Wizard of Cunnamulla". Spence is a very talented artist who uses unusual techniques to produce beautiful pieces of art. He and Judy welcomed us into their home, and Spence talked us through his gallery and workshop. We came away with the most beautiful wood block print, that we think is the best and most unique souvenir. We highly recommend a visit to his gallery.
