We were very disappointed from the start the run down farm area with sad animals in all but bare paddocks and the disgusting green dam. Things didn't get much better in main part of zoo. A lot of the animal cages looked small and not very well cared for. The animals looked in good health just not a lot for them to do! The so called cafe had no food or hot drinks and its a long way from car park to bring a bbq or picnic! Think this place could be good but needs an awful lot of money spent on it and maybe a bit more know how! Think it's too expensive for the way it is now.

All done in an hour. Some nice animals to see, but as there is only one of several species when they are sleeping you only see an empty cage. Unkept cages and grounds, some animals appeared depressed and sad with some enclosures being way to small. There was a children's party going on and it seemed like they could not get them through quick enough, less time than we took looking at the animals and that was including feeding them, they hurried the kids on and gave them no time for questions. Little shade so as others have said, very hot. I asked about the train that used to go around the big pineapple grounds, the zoo and pineapple are seperate entities and both somewhat run down. I feel unless they up their game the zoo won't succeed. Yes the zoo down the road is a lot more money, but you see way more and can spend a whole day. Over all disappointed, won't return and won't recommend it either. Very basic facilities and food. Sorry Qld zoo, I really wanted to like you!

The animals looked relatively happy but the place appears run down. Need to spend more money keeping the grounds tidy. Our small children (5 & 7) liked i but it will be awhile before we come back.We also went during summer and the place was very hot as it's in a hollow, so there was little or no breeze.

This is a top place to take your kids some say its pricey they should try going to the other zoo of the that persons name that one is over priced why to much wont waste my time there after going to this one my daughter love the animals from the penny turtle to the big red roos can pat touch and feed they are all so tame and nice my daughter didn't know which one she wanted to keep. You can feed them pat them and get pics taken of holding them and feeding them at a reasonable price. This is a place you can spend a day at no problems there are a lot of animals to see and a petting zoo for the young ones. Out of all the zoos I have visited this is in the top 3 so do your kids a favour and give them a day there.

The locals will know that the animals at this zoo came from Alma Park zoo when it closed its doors. It is in part of the derelict Big Pineapple so turn in to the main building for directions to the zoo. The enclosures are well-laid out with each animals needs taken into consideration. The staff are knowledgeable and passionate about their animals, so make sure you arrive before 11am so you can attend all the special talks. The only food on sale is drinks and ice blocks so take a picnic lunch with you - plenty of picnic tables in the shade. Toilet blocks were clean and serviced and ground was uneven in parts so take a walking stick if you need one, like I do.I went with my granddaughters - 14 and 7 and they both enjoyed different things about it. I loved the small monkeys - tamarins, marmosets, lemurs etc, and you can pay to enter their enclosure and have your photo taken with selected ones.Be sure to allow yourself all day and take your own food and drink.

We thought it was bit expensive but they had many animals and we spent half-a-day on a summer day. My two-year old son loved seeing those little monkeys. Good experience for children.

Wanting to avoid the hype of Australia Zoo we chose this smaller zoo near the big pineapple. It was just perfect for us (a family with small children). It cost us $70 and we saw so many different animals and took our time meandering along the paths and enjoying the rainforest walk. There were not many people there which made it day out seem very personal. We will be back!

This may not be a very flashy or slick operation currently and there may not be an elephant nor a tiger in sight but there are tassie devils (that I can tell you have quite soft coats and make a fabulous noise) wombats, koala, marmosets and my daughter's favorite, a naked neck rooster, to name but a few. Yes, you read right. Not only is there the main zoo, which is surrounded by bush, there is a comprehensive farmyard with everything from mice to chickens to pigs... This was a great hit with us all. Sure, they could do with some signage but the staff were great, and for free (yes free, although you could pay to hold one) we got touch a snake, shingleback, bearded dragon and the tassie devil...(my favourite!.) Like all boutique zoos, this is a different experience to the big zoos, and is great for kids because it's small, no one gets tired or bored and you get a more personal experience. You also support a small local business and i'm all for that! I understand they haven't been at this site long and there is work still to do, but it will be a great small zoo when it's done. It was difficult to find via sat nav, but drive into the Big Pineapple complex, pass it by, stick to the slip road and the zoo is straight ahead down the hill. I thought the fee of around $70 for a family of 5 was reasonable. I would probably buy an annual pass ( if there is one) if I lived a little closer.

Went here with my Brother, his wife and 2 little girls under 3. Wow lets just say the girls loved feeding the kangaroos and the barn yard full of baby animals. Found it rather dusty, we took a pram which is the way to go. The girls loved the chickens they held them and I think each one of 40 had a cuddle. Fantastic for little ones, take a hat and sunscreen as you always do anyway. We all had a ball. The piglets, chooks, chicks and monkeys were a hit. Great place to go with the family and wonderful hand son experience.

We took a family group of my daughters and their 4 children under 8 out for the day and decided to go to QLD zoo and the big pineapple. We had seen advertising so wanted a cheaper alternative to Australia zoo. Unfortunately we were disappointed and ended up going to Australia zoo anyway. The big pineapple wasn't open nor was any of the inside area. It was cash only not even eftpos so we were going to have to drive to find an atm. The toilets in the main building were closed and portal oops were located down a hill 2 ice creams cost $11. Until it gets set up a bit more we won't be visiting

good well planned zoo, plenty of space for the animals, a bit pricey entrance fee but understand it is a private zoo and is one of Australias best zoo experiences, the shows are brilliant.

This new kid on the block is adjacent to the Big Pineapple (which is a great place to start for your visit). Tickets are reasonably priced and the Zoo is in it's initial stages (as the animals used to belong to the Alma Park Zoo just out of Brisbane before it closed its doors). There are also foodie/craft markets here on a Saturday morning - so overall a great time to make the most of your visit here. They have a "train" that you can hop onto which the young kids love, and you can purchase some cheap feed so that you can hand feed some of the animals. The signs etc are still very basic however get you on your way. Will be updated in due time I guess :). Also there are portaloos around the park at the moment, so would recommend going before jumping on the train. The paths in the older sections are very steep in areas and poorly maintained (there is a lot of work going on through the park and the problem areas are highlighted in yellow paint - so obviously going to be done some time in the near future). There are a lot of new structures being built at the back of the park near the Dingos. It was lovely to handle a Bearded Dragon, Snake, chicks in the farm yard area and pat a Koala. The staff are genuinely a nice bunch of people and you get a really great feeling from your visit here. It's a mostly hands on visit that the kids will adore. Some of the enclosures are so well done that you almost feel like you could reach out and touch the animals in their natural environment - Koalas especially.Would recommend as a reasonably cheap and cheerful visit for a young family although once everything is refurbished I am sure that it will appeal to many other types of visitors.
