Fairy Park Anakie Victoria Australia is a wonderful place to take children for a whole day.Pack a picnic lunch, as there are many areas to sit and eat,under roof protection provided,It is a 20 minute drive from Geelong ,along country roads,with not a lot of traffic,easy to find.on top of high hill sits the castle like building ,lots of walks going down and around the hill are story book characters in all their glory set out for the children to delight about,Jack and the bean stalk the Seven Dwarfs,Ali Baba and his robbers in a cave and much much more,you can buy ice creams and drinks for the kids,there is also a lovely play ground for them to run off access energy while you sit and watch and relax,our Kids have had many happy hours spent there and so have the Grandies,so go and have try it is a lovely experience for a day.

At the gate you wonder what you're in for but once you're up top the kids eyes light up. Brilliant for all ages but my 4 year old was so excited and had a ball. Highly recommended.

Fairy Park located at Anakie in Victoria is a completely fascinating attraction & I am pleased to be able to recommend it to you.The history of how the Park come about is incredibly interesting & this in part is what makes it such a highly entertaining venue. It was opened in the 1950's & my family have old black & white photos from when they visited back in those early days. Somewhere along the line a day trip to Fairy Park turned into a family tradition of sorts & each new generation have at one time or another taken both family & friends to make the "climb" to the top.Fairy Park is built upon a large rocky outcrop that rises up out of the surrounding flat paddocks. It's cool in that you think there is nothing there & as you come around a bend in the road all of a sudden you can see a Castle sitting on top of a 'large rock' & a steep winding path that you drive up about half way until you reach the ticket box.Once you have paid the entry fee you drive in a bit further until you reach an area that is set aside for car parking. Here you will also find coin operated Electric BBQ's with shelter, Picnic Grounds, a Gift Shop & Kiosk as well as toilet facilities. [Entry prices are very reasonable].The kiosk has the regular fare as well as ice creams & drinks. Vending machines are also available that are accessible all the time. If you are able to it is always obviously a good idea to take along your own picnic lunch, especially for weekdays as they don't have the other parts open.The Camelot Playground is also located on this level.It is from this base that you start the walk along the paved path that winds & twists on an incline towards the Castle set on top of the 'mountain'. There are over twenty [20] hand crafted Animated Scenes, including Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Aladdin's Cave, Puff the Magic Dragon & Goldilocks that are built along the cobbled walkway. Some are interactive & all are highly detailed. We are informed that every part of this facility was hand built by the very same family that still operated the Park for over fifty [50] years. Located up in the Castle is a Model Train display & there are wonderful 360° views from the summit. There was a Cafe in the Castle when we last visited however I am unsure if this is still operating. Summary: Fairy Park is an absolutely fascinating & definitely unique attraction to visit. Some may consider it old & a bit run down, but I can speak from personal experience stretching well over a thirty year span that there is undeniably something extremely endearing about the place.We recommend that you may wish to visit their website when planning your trip as there is a lot of important suggestions & instructions about both the venue as well as its location in Anakie that are worth knowing first. They are also closed on many weekdays so check the operating hours calendar first as well.Meanwhile put on your comfy walking shoes, grab your camera & other essentials and make your first visit to Fairy Park, we are sure that you will have a fantastic time that you will want to experience again and again!Thank you for reading my review, we hope that it is helpful.[PS: Last visited in 2011 - year not available in drop down screen. What a fun place. The animated fairy tale trail was good fun and my grandson just loved pushing the buttons to animate the characters and hear the stories. This is one of the few places I have been where there are push button attractions which actually work!!The Camelot playground was outstanding - something for children of all ages from toddlers to early teensI would recommend taking a picnic lunch if you intend to eat there as the kiosk food is very expensive with little choiceOverall though, definitely worth a visit.

We've lived in Australia almost 3 years and I've wanted to visit Fairy Park since we first got here. Well today we finally went. I've deliberated over it as being from England I really miss theme parks with roller coasters etc and knew that this wasn't the case at this park. But I am so glad we gave it a chance, it was just me and the 2 kids so only $32 (bargain I say) the kids loved it and the youngest is normally a whinger after 5 minutes of walking but not at fairy park, she was in her element! I see some reviews mentioning cobwebs....erm. ...yes it's all outdoor, how very dare there be cobwebs!! )lol! Really wasn't an issue! There is an element of enchantment to this place and I am so glad we went!! Ps....we do really lack in actual theme parks here just in case any people in power are reading...just sayin' ;-)

Daughter enjoyed it, I think i learnt more about fairy tales than she did. There is a awesome playground at the bottom of the park.

We took our 8yo son & 6yo daughter there today. Absolutely kicked ourselves & felt compelled to share how bad it was. I had never been there but was shocked that something so dilapidated, boring & worn out was publicised as a terrific family attraction. We paid $48 to get in. I am honestly saying a gold coin donation would be a fair entry price. All there is are animated fairy tale scenes where you push the button, watch for 20 seconds & move on to the next one. The puppets are shabby at best, paint marks, worn costumes, cobwebs everywhere. Have never been ripped off so much, if our kids enjoyed it we would have grinned & bared it. But unfortunately they also hated it. And our kids loved fairy tales. Treat your kids to something else, try Werribee Open Range zoo nearby, even a movie would be more enjoyable. They should feel ashamed charging families so much for absolute rubbish.

We attended last Sunday with our 7 and 4 year old girls. We all really enjoyed it - the weather was stunning which enhanced the incredible views you could see from the park, which is atop a mountain. We'd looked up the website to know when it was open and also knew the kiosk was open by the website. We did whole thing in 1.5 hours but it wasn't a rush, and we loved that it was interactive with the fairytale displays. It was something very different to what we'd seen. It reminded us of the Myer Christmas Windows.

I went to the Fairy Park when I was a child and I took my daughter there. As a child, she loved it and thought that following the path was fun and the play park outside was terrific. But....some of the puppets limbs were falling off, eyes popping out, cobwebs everywhere. Even though it bought back childhood memories, it needs a spruce up and a coat of paint.

We took our 2 year old here and he really loved it. There is a bbq area outside in the car park area along with a fast food van. You take the main path in and follow it around looking at all the different sets of fairy tales. Its very oldy worldy but this gives it a nice atmosphere and appeal. Some of the displays are quite old and some are really pretty looking such as the Dragon. My sons favourite part was the indoor model train set! The playground was also very good and all the kids seemed to be enjoying themselves. I would recommend taking your own food as the fast food van has very limited choice. A good day out.

Had a family reunion here and it was fantastic. Quite steep but there are rails and good paths for prams etc. walk around and view all the fairy tales In little houses with music etc. fantastic playground at the end too and a lovely model train display. We paid the extra for a BBQ under cover area and this was good value for elderly parents etc. entry is $16 for adults and $8 for kids and we stayed all day. Drive from city is just over an hour. Very clean, happy place for whole family

We have visited the fairy park on a number of occasions, it is very clever and creative and the playground is a must do! Disappointing to see the cafe at the top has closed down. Still a lovely place to visit but no decent food available there.

Went there on the weekend with my 3 year old and the little one (whos still in a pram). There was only one path around which was great - you follow it up and you follow it down. The attractions all worked and did entertain my kid quite a bit.The playground at the end was a ton of fun and we stayed there for around an hour. My suggestions for improvement would be:- You should have a wider selection of food there - we drove over an hour to get there and ended up eating sandwiches. Theres only a cafeteria and one overpriced food van.- You should get some staff walking around - better if they were dressed up - the kids would love that- Perhaps some areas where you can walk in and look at attractions - like snow whites house perhaps.Not something I would do again anytime soon - but worth the visit.

Don't know what other people expect but we had a great morning here!!! It's fantastic, would definitely recommend. The playground is awesome, my kids (8 and 6) really enjoyed it. They loved listening to all the fairy stories and were happy to stand there and listen. Worth the money.
