We selected Skythrills as we had Red Balloon vouchers, and BOTH of us wanted to go flying. Skytrills could take us both up in the same open cock pitted biplane, at the same time. I'm not sure what I expected, probably something more like a Tiger Moth rather than the much bigger Ag_Cat, With it's metal fuselage, big radial engine and no nonsense construction, this was a aircraft to be respected. Built in the 1960's, she's sturdy and really up to the job of chauffeuring people through the air. We got an hour or more of air time, sightseeing down the Moorabool Valley to Geelong, then along the Bellarine Peninsula to Ocean Grove, west along the coast to Torquay then back to Lethbridge airport. With our pilot giving commentary and answering questions it was all over far too soon when the Ag_Cat returned the ground so softly we hardly noticed the landing. With leather helmets (and noise cancelling headsets), the wind (a little) in our faces and the best view in the house it was a totally authentic experience in the hands of a Master pilot. Back on the ground we had trouble getting the grins off our faces.
I had a massive fear of flying, so my girlfriend bought me an adventure flight to surprise me. So we flew to Melbourne, got to Lethbridge and I hopped on the Nanchang (a military training aircraft), the experience was so amazing and I felt really safe the whole time. I could even chat with the pilot during the manoeuvres. Best gift I ever had and Skythrills really made it awesome, thankyou!
I actually bought this for my boyfriend who is really scared of flying. A surprise on our trip to Melbourne. Lucky I brought comfortable clothes cos he said if he flys I have to fly too. We took off in two planes and flew upside down and all kinds of things. The zero G was the best feeling. Completely weightless!! I couldn't believe it when we landed my boyfriend signed up to learn how to fly. The place is amazing. Feels like stepping back in time on an airfield. You get to touch the planes, learn about them and sit in them. Bring a camera for sure. You just have to. If you go to Melbourne take the time to do this. Its only an hour out by car and you get to visit all the great wineries along the way home too.
