A lovely day with friends at this top spot for lunch. We were treated to a wine tasting that was comprehensive and very well delivered. The food was good and very plentiful with service to match. I would recommend this to groups as we were very well catered for. A lovely place, great amenities and lovely staff and food. Top spot not that far from Melbourne.

I took my partner their for her birthday last week (it was our 3rd visit) to this venue. They have an "Adopt a Vine" programme - your own vine for 3 years and you are invited to several functions through the year at highly subsidised price. There is also a members discount on bottled win.The luncheon menu is limited mainly to fare cooked in the wood fired ovens but very tasty along with antipasto and garlic bread.and your own birthday caaake ia quite acceptabl. Cake and coffee is also available

Hi,my name is Lynette Johnston my husband and I with a group of friends on a six weekly basis have to choose a place to have a Sunday lunch.Each couple has to find a new venue on a rotation basis.Three years ago our daughter purchased vouchers for us to dine at Gisborne Peak Winery,I'm a pizza person so I wouldn't have really been concerned about variety of food served.Sunday 15th Feb we had chosen to eat at Gisborne Peak,my husband asked me,is that the place we went to quite a while ago as there were only those expensive little pizzas for main.I honestly couldn't remember but sure enough he was correct,I have been in hospitality for close to 30yrs,we were all so disappointed.Tasting plates were small certainly not enough for two or four people unless you like lots of bread,pizzas again were small and could not be added to or changed in any way.We would never recommend to friends as a place to go.Whilst venue is beautiful,most staff friendly,the mains menu really needs to be more varied and flexible and not pre made.Upon leaving I took notice of what was left on other diners plates only to see the hard overcooked edges of pizzas and then outside half of a burnt pizza that had obviously been a disappointment.You have a really pleasurable place to dine and sip a glass of wine,but we won't return. Depending on where you're coming from, we can be a little tricky to find, however we're very glad you did find us! We are well signposted from the Gisborne South freeway exit, so we recommend first time visitors follow the signage or have a quick look on a map before heading out (phone reception can get a bit spotty out here). We are a little off the beaten track- coming from the Gisborne South freeway exit it is fairly direct and well signposted, but it can get a little tricky from other directions, so you did well! For first time visitors, it's definitely worth having a look at where we are on a map before heading out, especially as phone reception can get a bit spotty in Gisborne South. But you found us! You are right in noting that our menu is limited, this is an important fact that we are always quite open about. First and foremost we are a winery, therefore our main focus will always be on our much loved estate grown wines. Our menu was created to compliment the wines and offer our guests a well rounded experience. We offer a limited selection of wood-oven meals, and do our best to ensure that all visitors to Gisborne Peak are aware of this prior to, or upon their booking/ arrival. Our menu is published on our website, with links on all social media pages in the hopes that visitors can make an informed decision when visiting us.As for the quality of your meal, we are deeply apologetic that it was not to your liking. We strive to offer a consistently high standard of service and food, however it sounds as though your experience was one of the few that was simply not up to scratch. Dear Dan,What an awful experience you had at our winery. I apologise for this and it has cost me many hours of fret and concern. As a manager and owner I have asked my staff 'how and why' did this happen, and further, 'what lessons have we learned from this situation'. No sense in going into the details of how this happened as it's over now and you've had a most disappointing experience at our place. So unlike us. Everyone here is empowered to fix a situation and we have procedures in place when this occasionally happens. Why those procedures didn't work on that day I don't know. I do know that others had a great day - but that doesn't help you. I have communicated with your family privately and offered some 'sorry' packages and I've yet to hear which option you might take up. I do hope you might give us another try. We won't let you down, I promise!
