My husband and I took five little boys (aged 3-12) for a day out as we were staying locally in Ballarat. The drive was lovely and we arrived at the Property which is quite remote. We Brough our own fishing rods (highly recommend) to save us having to hire them. The older boys immediately began fishing in the upper, well-stocked ponds and began catching after only a few minutes. They loved it! My 5 yr-old sat patiently and within about 29 minutes caught his very first fish! He was ecstatic! We enquires about having the fish cooked there for lunch, but it was a little pricey given our big group. So we took our cleaned and filleted fish home to cook ourselves! A great day out and awesome experience for children. Staff were friendly, a little grotty though and not very 'service' focused. Warner welcomes and offers of assistance may have made it a GREAT day even BETTER!

My friend and I thought it would be so great to take all of our 4 boys aged from 3-8yrs to the trout farm for so much fun and enjoyment. What a perfect environment for all of these boys at this age ...or so we thought! The landscape was to die for and the couple of animals they have around is also good. The greeting we received at the door from the lady was as cold as my freezer, we were not made to feel welcome quite the opposite, almost like we were in the way. The man was quite abrupt and would really tell the boys off for using the rod incorrectly when they have zero experience and are there to learn and enjoy the day, in fact he nearly had one in tears! The man also continued to tell us how we should be parenting our children because they were not listening the first time to his advice...clearly he has no experience with children and should not be in a customer service role along with the lady. We will never be going back to this particular trout farm again..very disappointing :(

My friend treated me to a daytrip to the Daylesford area and we did a morning fishing exercise and lunch at the Tuki Trout Farm first. The staff there are great, really friendly but professional with increasing visitors in the morning. As complete novices, it was a novelty to "catch" our own trout from the beginner's pond, aided by a couple of kid visitors who were more than happy to coach us on the preliminary basics. We decided to go with lamb at lunch and it was cooked perfectly, very juicy and tender accompanied by a fresh salad and finished with a delicious apple pie for dessert. Very picturesque settings from our table. It's a fun 1/2 day trip if you've got kids or just want to have a nice getaway from the city. Just bring an esky for your catch if you have a long drive home!

we recently attend our xmas party at Tuki with our children. The fishing experience was great and the kids have a ball catching numerous fish. When then enjoyed eating our catch and the food was prepared to perfection. The grounds and surrounding views are breathtaking. The service was excellent.Would highly recommend this location to anyone with children.

The grounds were beautiful. There are about 3 or 4 separate ponds where you can fish. A small overstocked one for novices, a bigger one for those with more patience and experience, so on and so forth. You are given the option to fish and bring them back for 18AUD/kilo( I think) or have them cooked for lunch. We decided upon the latter and boy oh boy did we regret it. Don't get me wrong, we had a whale of a time catching fish since it was our first time trying but they just weren't coked to our taste. The warm fluffy bread was divine and the potatoes and salad lovely but the fish was unappetising to say the least. The man who was serving us even offered the cheek(the best part of the fish) to the family dinning next to our table. The nerve of him! haha jk The kids had fun though but I don't think i'll be visiting again anytime soon.

Was looking for somewhere to take our 4 year old fishing years back and stumbled at Tuki Trout Farm. We stayed here for the weekend, our son had his first catch of fish and the rib eye prepared by Rob was stunning. The views are absolutely magnificent especially at sunset. We have been coming to this place ever since and have never been disappointed by Rob, Jan and their staff. Their lamb sausages are fantastic and our children love them. We had a funny experience several years ago, set our TOM TOM to shortest route , ended up in the middle of the farm, luckily was during the day so we managed to drive around and finally got to destination safely. Better go through Creswick if you are driving from Melbourne. We keep going to this place because our children love it and we love it too, it is a different experience from the life in the suburbs.

This is a quirky attraction with a down-to-earth quality in a real-life Australian farm setting. There is nothing faux about this place. Don't expect refinement as family members come and go with fishing rods in hand or on some dutiful mission or another. The senior staff members can sometimes appear harried, but well-intentioned as they rush about trying to attend to the great diversity of guests they receive. Highly recommend a long lingering lunch with a window view and a bottle of Eastern Peake Red.

I decided to go to the Tuki Trout Farm for Fathers day, we chose the Saturday to avoid the crowd expected on the Sunday. We had a beautiful lunch in the Restaurant, because the place is famous for both their lamb and fish, we decided to have the Lamb for lunch. We had the lamb fillet and boy I didn't know lamb could taste so good!! so after a very satisfying lunch, we went for a fish. The weather was perfect, the grounds are kept in an immaculate condition. The hosts are very friendly, and make all their guests feel special. We caught a huge trout (which made the father of the day very pleased with himself) they clean it up for us to take home, which is a fantastic idea. Or they can cook if for you in the Restaurant. We didn't want to leave the place. Will be back again with the extended family. Conveniently located being only and hour and a half from Melbourne.

Although we didn't catch any trout on the day (neither did many others) this review is more about the service and lunch menu offered on site - absolutely fantastic. The menu caters for children and adults and with an organic-styled cuisine, we found it was delicious too! We ordered the lamb sausages (beautiful), potato wedges, and the trout platter - so at least we got to taste the fish!**Tip**If coming from Melbourne, DO NOT set your navigation to shortest route - we had the wonderful (although my wife thought otherwise) experience as you will be taken through back roads, gravel and at times quite slippery. Take the M8 and then straight up the A300 to Creswick. Easy, and most of the time 80+ km/h

We went to the Tuki Trout Farm looking to catch a trout and them have it cooked for us. I caught a 650g trout and my husband caught a 350g trout which was a wionderful feeling.. They prepared the trout and cooked it in lemon , wine and herbs and served it with beautiful fresh bread and roast potatoes and a an excellent salad. Washe ddown with a light beer. We loved the place and the ambience and will be returning again soon and will stay in one of the cottages.

We visited the place on a hot day with very few guests but still the customer service was average. The manageress doesnt look at you when talking and appears disinterested. We were served very overcooked potatoes and gluten free bread in the same basket as wheatflour bread which can still cause contamination. The trout and sauce was nice but overall the vibe is not relaxing. It feels uncomfortable to be there because the place itself is ok but the service is unprofessional.

My husband and I planned to have a day out at tuki for trout fishing and lunch, on Tuesday 31 Dec 2013. Then we decided to stay and spend New Years there! Very last minute! We stayed in the stone cottage which was quaint and rustic!! Lovely breakfast was supplied, we came prepared with our own food for dinner that evening.... It is rather self contained. (Check dinner options with staff) luckily we came prepared. The closest town is about approx 20- 30 minutes. The trout fishing was great, although I fished in the beginners pond/pool! I caught 4 easily! My husband was in one of the harder ponds and caught 4 also. We were able to have one thought cooked for my husbands lunch and I choose the rib eye! Delightful place lovely history. The 2 new female staff from USA were lovely and extremely helpful!! We were able to take home all our trout which was well cleaned and packed well. Thanks to tuki for a great start to 2014. Very peaceful, amazing night sky, horses just wandering around the property, just gorgeous! Highly recommended! Great for children too!

The family decided for my 70th birthday to do something different ( I was over the party thing !) and as I love my grandchildren a time on a farm catching trout with them, watching their faces sounded good. This is an active farm with hard working owners. From our experience as we appreciated there position, they treated us just so well and made our 2 night stay fantastic - I guess some times you have research where you are going and understand it is not a 5 star hotel !For us (6 adults,2 children) it was WOW and such fun in what we referred to as "Rustic" conditions. The Miners Cottage goes back to the 1800's so of course has a worn feel - but gee just to experience it was great - live the moment! The Cottage by the Lake was really great, the view over the lake(see photo), the Pyrenees mountains in the distance, the fantastic open fire ( all wood provided). The supplied breakfast would have made the English proud - home made sausages, bacon, eggs( from their chooks led by Roger the Rooster), bread, milk and orange juice all included. The trout catching was fun and tasted even better, thanks Robert for showing the little lamb being fed (see photo)and the fish also being fed - a real experience for my grandchildren. The dinner on Robert's suggestion was a Tuki bred and butchered Beef Rump carved at the table( fabulous- see photo) after enjoying a platter of smoked trout, trout pate and chorizo home made sausages and home cooked bread rolls all downed with a few beers and a Warramang local Cab/Merlot - does it get better than that !So to those who did not enjoy perhaps have a look at yourselves - go to Tuki, do not expect 5 star, absorb and really enjoy what Robert and Jan have to give - they were wonderful to us and we respected what they had to give.We will be back this sort of experience and peace is rarely available now a days and this is from a well travelled now 70 year old man !I have done a lot of reviews around the world and this is one of the best values ever, I feel very sad for those reviewers who did not enjoy such a wonderful place and people.

We visited this farm today and was dumbfounded by the fact that we were greeted by abrupt Hostess and the only smooth over was that the new staff member was able to deal with us in a professional manner . Lovely place , food , view and spoilt it by being on edge whilst there .
