I've camped at Blackwoods camping spot in the Murrindindi Scenic Reserve a couple of times now. The campsites are great, with fire pits, room for tents and/or caravans and usually a rock-reinforced parking bay. There's flushing toilets at one end, and a few drop toilets scattered around. The reserve has several walks that you can go on. Or, if fly fishing is more your cup of tea the Murrindindi River contains reasonable numbers of trout. There's also plenty of four wheel driving/dirt bike tracks around to keep you occupied.

Yea is a tiny place and the only reason to visit it is the scenic reserve. We were breaking our journey on our way to somewhere else and decided to stop in Yea overnight. We wandered about the scenic reserve all afternoon and saw loads of different wildlife. Every few yards there are information boards about what you might see and plenty of places to sit quietly and wait for the birds and water creatures to come to you. It is largely wetland and there are boardwalks provided for easy walking.

We camped at Bull Creek camp. The problem with a camp that has toilets and easy access is the people it attracts. This spot cannot be classed as peaceful am secluded. Kept up 2 nights by immature drunks in tents. If you want a peaceful, relaxing stay DONT STAY HERE. This would be a day trip only. We planned on staying 4 nights at this spot, but left in 2. Our sons push bike was also stolen which was disappointing. On a good note though, the Wilhelmina Falls was worth the walk. View and waterfall was fantastic. However nice this spot is, we will not be returning.

I have been camping at murrindindi for 20 years. It has been a while since I have been there and it has changed flushing toilets for one .... It use to be a quiet secluded place where you could throw a rock and not hit anyone but now it's a bit like a caravan park. I must admit I went camping with 6 and 9 years old girls so the toilets were a plus. The walk to the falls is fantastic. If you have any trouble ring the ranger and the come down and sort it out ... once you drive back to the highway to get phone reception. Anyway over all had a great weekend.

We love camping at Murrindindi - and we've done a lot of camping. I enjoy having a wire fenced area to yourself, where no-one else can set up camp right on top of your own! There are trees/bushes in between sites to create a bit of privacy. The flushing toilet is a highlight for me, I've done a lot of camping with pit dunnies and even made our own, so this is a little luxury. We live within an hours drive, so to find such a peaceful spot close by is a bonus. The walking tracks are well laid out, and the river is beautiful. Most sites have a fire pit with a cooking plate, etc. There is ample wood to make a campfire. All the parks are well signed - we've stayed in Suspension Bridge and Bull Creek so far. I liked Suspension Bridge, cos the walk to the river to collect water was much easier. For $7 a night - who can complain! Seemed to be a lot of families camping too - which makes you feel safer. Who needs doof doof music and loud disrespectul behaviour, when all you want to do is relax and enjoy the great outdoors. The Ranger drives by regularly, which is a comfort. Thank you for giving us such a lovely, affordable place to experience camping.

Just returned from camping here. Only stayed one night because EVERY campsite has a stupid fence around it on 3 sides!!If I wanted to camp inside a fence - I'd camp in my backyard.Obviously the "camp ground designers" never go camping. The reserve is 850 acres - so why do we have to sit inside a fence for heavens sake????

Murrindindi Scenic Reserve has something for every camper. We took our caravans and stayed in the Blackwood Camp, close to the river, not far to the dump toilets. They have done extensive work here since the fires and opened up various camping areas (6 seperate locations) for both the caravaners and the campers. Sites are well defined and there is a walk to suit all abilities. All in all a beautiful place and well worth a visit. NB A fee is payable for an overnight stay but very inexpensive and it will help preserve the area.
