Well, if you have a short while (1 hr max) to fill-up, you can go there. The falls are nice and the walk enjoyable, but there is nothing to be crazy about... just Ok.
Amazing road to reach the falls, plenty of steps to go down. not much of water, but the whole place and the environment is really fantastic. nature at its best.
Although the area is stunningly beautiful and pathways are great, my wife & I were disappointed with the falls.... not much water cascading down!!! Maybe coming from Canada and traveling to see waterfalls in many other countries has prejudiced our views. The drive up to the falls makes it worth it if you decide to go.
second visit here today and the weather was nice, last time it rained and was pretty miserable. There are a lot of steps to get to the bottom, which is worth the effort,For those who are unable to negotiate lots of steps there is a look out close to the top which should be easily acheavable for most people, I took two Cotton heads in there's 70's all the way to the bottom and back !The views are stunning and you can also wander around in the stream and rocks at the bottom. It's approx 20 minutes inland from Lorne main strip and is worth a small deviation off the Great Ocean Road.
We stopped here during a drive along the Great Ocean Road. We climbed down lots of steep steps to get to the base of the falls. We live in England and are used to some amazing waterfalls so we were rather disappointed by these falls that were not very big and not much water falling. We certainly didn't think it was worth the extremely steep climb back up on the steep steps.
The Erskin falls are one of the best natural waterfalls I have been to. I have seen many in different parts of the world and Australia, but these are up there with the best for sure.
As the title says this place was beautiful, at the risk of giving this away if you take about a 30minute walk downstream you can avoid all the tourists and soak in the natural beauty of the area for yourself. Be careful though it's slippery and plenty of creepy crawlies so best avoided by the faint hearted.
The long walk down wasn't really worth doing for what as in front of us. The fall was beautiful probably on a different day but there is a tree that has fallen across it which makes the photos look crap. If you want to go closer you have to walk on rocks and fallen trees, could be quite dangerous on wet days.
This place was just amazing. It was so fresh, beautiful and mesmerizing. The only negative thing was all the tourists (and I was one of them haha).
Erskine falls themselves are great to go have a look at and get a couple of photos but there not massive and there's not that much watch coming over. However if you have a cool day in Lorne over the summer there is a great hike up to Erskine falls. The hike takes about 2 and a half but it is a fantastic day and the sites you see along the way are amazing. Wear a decent pair of shoes as there are some tricky sections to the hike and you do cross the river a few times. To get to the track you need to walk through the caravan park on the Lorne side of the river. Once you get to the back of the park you can't miss the track. Like I said it does take awhile so it might be worth organizing someone to pick you up from the falls as the walk back can get really draining.
