This beach was so quiet and picturesque when we visited it. The view across to the pillars of rock standing up in the sea was breathtaking and the power of the sea awe inspiring.
My favourite beach that I've been to so far in Australia. My partner brought me here end of January on a really hot day and I couldn't understand why more people weren't there. It has the proper grainy sand a good beach should have , not shelly or pebbly. The beach itself I think is beautiful, the rock formation and the way its set out is very picturesque.I cant wait for it be Whale season, as I will be coming down here as much as possible to try and get a glimpse of the passing Whales that pass through here from May to October
We stayed overnight at Warnambool and this is the first place we visited in the morning. A lovely place to get a fresh air. Walk around bare foot for grounding.
Very easily reached from warnambol City centre this place had a gat sunset. The beach was nice and there were nearby walks which you can do along the cliff face.
My son is named Logan so I had to go and see this beach and take a picture for him. It was the wrong time of year to view whales but I expect it would be pretty amazing to watch the whales from the viewing platforms. Interesting little facts around the view platforms on the whales and fantastic views along the beach, I would definitely go back in whale watching season..
We've often been here to watch the whales - and sometimes we've seen them. It's easy to get to and you can pretty soon tell if they are there (just look at how many other watchers are staying around!).It's great when they are there, and sometimes quite close with babies playing around the mothers.Always (in season) go & have a look!
A perfect Aussie beach, good surf, but in a relatively safe and sheltered bay, at least to the eastern side by the pier - seal lions but no sharks, at least while we were there
Wrong time of year for whales, but a very pretty place to visit. The sea is such a deep blue.Recommended.
Too late for whales but Logan's beach is a fine destination any time of year. Starting from the breakwater at Warrnambool enjoy the near 7km walk along the foreshore, past Granny's Grave and across the Hopkins river bridge, following the excellent paths. Signs lead to the whale viewing platform. Allow 3 hrs return and enjoy.
Thank you for your review. Yes our whales will be back around May 2015. You can track the report on the Great Ocean Road Whales facebook page.
When the whales come in it is an excellent spot to see and take photos. There is ample parking and only a short walk to observe the whale sittings.
We took a detour to Logan's beach on our 3 day GOR road trip from Melbourne to Adelaide. We had heard quite about how up close and personal the watching experience was and our toddler was eager to catch a glimpse.Unfortunately it was not to be. I went back and checked a few of the reviews for August and many people seemed to have been as unlucky as we were. Nevertheless it is a wonderful place to visit with a great viewing platform and unobstructed views of the Great Southern Ocean. It being winter and all that, the winds were quite strong and brought in a great amount of white foam onto the shores, so much so that we did not realize what it was for quite a while..A quick note - The Southern Right Whale is sort of Gray/black and amidst the churning sea throwing grayish waves with white foam it is easy to mistake everything for a whale. Take a quick look at the pictures on this thread to orient yourself a bit.
Was deserted and wasn't beach weather so we just had a quick look. Also it was Sunday and Warrnambool was shut for business, a few cafes open but we ate at the local club.
Whale nursery for Southern Right whales, first whale siting is usually around July and can continue for a number of weeks. Plenty of car parking for all types of vehicles, easy access to large platforms for whale watching. 20-30 wooden steps down to the surfing beach, not suitable for swimmers very dangerous however you are able to stroll along the beach in both directions for many km's.
great views just a bit windy access to beach or sit and watch the surf or sunset very nice . would recommend to anyone who goes to Warrnambool
