Spent a week at Sunraysia Resort in Mildura. Visited Cellar Door, They represent 22 Local wine producers from the area. Met Greg, the owner, very vibrant & knowledgeable. Great variety of wines, beer & ciders. Also sell coffee, local produce, glassware & wine accessories. A must to visit while in Mildura & we will definately return.
On holiday in Mildura and drove past a few times before deciding to walk there, very good decision to both walk and visit. Wonderful idea to represent 22 regional wineries with 250 wines to taste. We were fortunate to have the owner as our host and his knowledge of the wines and winemakers was thorough as well as being the perfect host, a must to visit if you are in Mildura.
We had a fantastic time at the cellar door. As we were honeymooning on the Murray, we wanted to try as many of the local wines as we could. Naturally, we didn't want to be driving around all of the wineries so the cellar door offered us a one-stop-shop for all that is fabulous about this wine region in Victoria. And shop we did! Once Cindy pouring tastings for us we couldn't stop! She was very professional and knowledgable - not only about the region but also about the differences between the varietals and labels. She also poured us a glass of zilzie prosecco to wish is well on our honeymoon (a lovely and well appreciated touch).Needless to say we lost a few hours in this place and needed to leave the 2 or so doz we bought to be picked up later in the week (we were in no state to drive!) We returned a few days later and were warmly greeted by the owner (who remembered us!) and decided to try - and buy- another 1/2 doz.Overall - a great place and wonderful business. It seemed like many locals were using this place too - I only wish we had a wine store in yarraville that I could taste a couple of wines before deciding on what to but for the Friday night bbq.Thank you for looking after us so beautifully - we will absolutely be back!
Visited on a Friday evening for pre dinner drinks. Guys drank cider while the ladies were treated to a tasting of white wines, as suggested by our hostess. We ordered the cheese platter to accompany the tasting. Wonderful, friendly venue, relaxed atmosphere. Service and knowledge of wines very good. Wines for purchase well displayed, with prices. Generous tasting sizes at no charge. Will definitely return.
This is a cellar door in the centre of Mildura where you can taste the wines of the many different wineries of the district. We were welcomed at the door our two kids aged 8 and 10 were offered water and set up to play a game in the other room which was appreciated. Service was friendly and knowledgable. A really good way to compare the brands with each other. Though after saying this is what we wanted to do it didn't quite happen. We requested to compare a few sav blanc but instead got 5 whites including only 2 sav blanc until i refused the chardonnay and got a 3rd sav blanc. We were given a reason for this as it helps your taste buds compare the wines better but not too sure on that. A couple of visits are probably necessary as only one of the many wines tasted on that day was really liked by both of us "The Guilty Shiraz" a must try. We were also really impressed by the reasonabke prices in the area. Being in the central area akso means you can walk from your accommodation so no designated driver needed.
Wine tasting in a former funeral parlour! You might see a few ghosts if you imbibe a lot here. And you will as the proprietor is very generous in his tasting serves. There is a great range of wine and you are spoilt for choice. That said some of the wine is priced higher than you can purchase it back in Melbourne, so know what you are interested in. A great experience none heless.
Beuatiful set up and you can taste anything which is available for sale. We came with a group of varied wine knowledge, and the tasting information provided was very accessible. All questions answered in a firnedly, non judgemental way. Would deifnitely recommend as an introduction to wine in the region, or a convenient place to purchase if you're too short on time to visit cellar doors.
Loved the variety and selection available and appreciated Chris's excellent service seeing that we arrived fairly close to closing time.
Hubby and I called in late Monday afternoon, we were greeted by Chris, we sat, we talked, we tasted, we shared stories, it was like sharing the experience with an old friend. We sampled wines, ciders and beers from all over the Region and sampled many we never considered but Chris's extensive knowledge and knowing what people would enjoy helped us make our purchases. Thanks Chris and Renee we will be telling everyone that their #1 Mildura experience is the Cellar Door!
Visited Mildura last week and visited the Cellar Door. A must for any visitor who enjoys their wine. The staff were very knowledgeable and suited our winetasting experience around what we enjoyed drinking. We spent 3 hours there and learnt so much about the local area. Will definitely be back again and will partake in a lunchtime platter whilst tasting next time.
Greg & the team are very friendly and knowledgeable. We love dealing with SCD, and hear great responses! Its a must visit! Highly recommended, pop in and have a taste.
Very energetic knowledgeable and friendly. Great way to spend an afternoon . When you are in mildura make this place a must on your visit list
God damn best afternoon we've had for a while. Do not do Mildura without stopping here the host is well educated and knows what he's talking about. And he's loads of fun
A must visit if you enjoy wine. Had a lovely afternoon talking and tasting these lovely wines. Good size tastings too in large glasses. Definitely going back again next time we visit Mildura. Highly recommended ****
Wow! What a range of wines and so close to the Sunraysia Resort. Tried and bought a lot of wine. I'm sure Greg can find a wine to suit even your palate. I discovered a winey that I've never heard of (Shinas Estate). Us Red wine drinkers love a good red and for my palate Shinas Guilty Shiraz and Trentham Heathcote Shiraz were my favourites followed closely by Shinas Verdict and Executioner. Like I said at the start " I'LL BE BACK".
