The Teatro Teresa Carreno was completed in the early eighties. It is a remarkable work of architecture and is situated very centrally in Caracas. It is used mainly for classical concerts and operas now that Venezuela has developed into a nation of symphony orchestras and of classical music. We have been to various performances, the last one being an homage to the late great Paco de Lucia. It is a great theater with a very laid back atmosphere. The building has a very open structure with various staircases and promenades to enjoy the lush gardens. Fortunately the buiding is all concrete so that lack of maintenance has hardly affected the building. The acoustic is not really the best but atmosphere and building compensate this amply. Recommended also since Caracas has very attractive cultural events. Recommended also to come very early in order to be able to park.
Surrounded by exuberant tropical park, the theaters offers great spectacles in a fancy building with stylish brutalist architecture with amazing artworks from Jesus Soto
Teresa Careno Theater is an important place that has had received a lot of important artist of the world. There is an museum as well.
The Teresa Carreño Cultural Complex, also known as Teresa Carreño Theater, is the most important theatre of Caracas and Venezuela, where performances include symphonic and popular concerts, opera, ballet and plays. We visited there and went to hear a concert with a folkloric dances building is amazing and all the complex make you feel you want to be a part of it.
amazing modern architecture and good sound quality - the entrace hall is really beatiuful but the outside is better than the inside of the theater
This is a once beautiful theatre that used to be frequented by high society and music lovers as a cross section of Venezuelan Society. Since Hugo Chavez took it over to hold his "meetings", I don't know anyone that dares go close to the place. It is in front of the old Hilton Hotel which is now a Chavista "ALBA" hotel, and the whole area has suffered terribly. Because Caracas does not have many venues for cultural exchanges, many performers simply do not come anymore to Venezuela. What once was a vibrant theatre is now practically abandoned. On top of that, there is almost no place to park, certainly not on the street where after a performance you are taking your life in your hands, but even in the ALBA Hotel, frequented by the lowest of the low of the Venezuelan populace, I would be afraid to park. Go watch a movie in your hotel room instead.
The theatre building most important of Caracas. It is used for several art performance. It has an integrated design environment. When it was built, it was a very innovative building
See whatever is playing at this lovely theatre. Great sound. Offers plenty of Venezuelan and Latin American culture. Venezuela has a great symphony.
it used to be a culture place, now has to share its space with the presidents speeches, so you have to go and find if there are plays availables very nice showroom , cheap tkts
Got 10 BsF tickets to see contemporary dance as part of the International Festival of Theatre. Although we didn't get to go into the main hall, the basement was set up for a surreal hour of lights, colours, music and stamina.
Took the metro from Altamira to Bellas Artes station, walk around the area and found the famouse teatri, has a stunning architecture work , great to see , worth the visit!
In its day it made Caracas very proud to have such and imposing theatre. It could have been called the Opera House but is called simply teatro. You will never be able to attend great classical music concerts at such low prices. Whenever any of the local symphony orchestras play at the Teresa Carreño the ticket prices are absurdly low, they are difficult to book online for us spanish-speaking folk! so you are best advised to go up to the theatre and buy them
The best concert hall in all of the country, located next to a revered meeting place for forward-thinking artists ("el Ateneo"), is now President Chávez's place for delivering his day-long speeches. The Anna Julia Rojas hall and the José Félix Ribas hall were places I wasn't allowed to go to until I was old enough to sit through a classical music concert or ballet. Less than a week ago, Venezuela's most popular person, conductor Gustavo Dudamel, had to STOP the L.A. Philharmonic Orchestra because babies kept weeping and cellphones were not turned off before the start of the concert. That sums it all up. I won't even get started on the state of the premises.Still, try to visit. You might be able to take something from our story.
