We went on a Saturday morning. Earlier is better as it gets really crowded. There is also a cool store that sells "toys" that are actually science project such as periscopes etc. The area outside is also nice as it is fenced and kids can run around. Within walking distance is the main municipal market for pork sandwiches and cold beer. I also bought some excellent olives there.
We loved the fact that this is an interactive science museum for children. The monitors are great at teaching the concepts of the various exhibits......some exhibits needed repair.
This is a worthwhile science museum in Sao Paulo, both because its good permanent exhibitions and because of its extra activities (which need to be booked in the morning on the day of your visit, otherwise you probably won't find places). The museum is also very inexpensive. And, you may combine your museum visit with shopping and lunch at the neighbor Mercado Municipal.
We love going to this museum, kids can learn so much with all the exhibits and they have a really nice area for kids to do experiments. I don;t think they have information in english but it can still be lots of fun. The building is amazing, I don't get tired of looking at it.
Nice place to visit. Lots of cool attractions but the best is to arrive early to see all attractions. The ticket is cheap .
Thou it is a little far from the classic SP, this interactive museum is one of the best places for kids, to learn science, history, etc. A must if you bring kids aged 12 or less.
If you're not from SP you should just take a cab there. Huge lines for parking inside the museum and kind of dangerous to park in the streets. Museum is worth going with kids though - even before you enter it they have trains and real airplanes outside that children would love to just check them out
The best place to take small kids on the weekends. It is a mix of industry and science museum with a lot of interactive activities for the small ones. Entrance is BRL 6 (not USD 3) and you will have a lot of fun. There's a bunch of extra exhibitions and movies, but you need to get in line to get a (free) pass for the sesseion you want. But totally worth it and you do not pay more for it.
Despite saying this 'museum' is for all ages, this is truly a place for kids. Very interactive, in my view the best place in town to take small kids. Attractions go from old trains, airplaces, navy canons in the outside to a series of exhibitions and interactive attractions in the inside. There is a very nice coffee shop and the entrance is almost free (R$ 3,00 for kids and R$ 6,00 for grown-ups). The fee let you go to all temporary and permanent exhibitions and attractions; but note that for some you them (those with limited space, like movies) you need to get your (free) pass before hand. After visiting the place you can go to the Mercado Municipal (Sao Paulo's municipal market) where you can find food from all over the world in a very historical building (5 minutes walk).
the whole family could actually stay here for a day and not get bored at all. the children will definitely learn a lot, so as the adults too. the place is clean and these brazilian staff are all accommodating though they can't speak english well, they have done their best to handle our small requests and questions.
