Easy to get to by bus from central La Paz. Beautiful rock formations and well laid out with walkways and lookouts with shade.
this site reminded us a lot brice canyon or cappadocia. there are many rocky pinnacles which makes you feel on a moon scenario. very recommended
First, I would have sworn that I had previously written a review on the Valle de la Luna in La Paz, but apparently Tripadvisor says that I haven't! This is based on a 3 week trip we took to Bolivia a while back, but as it is a natural site, I'm quite sure it hasn't changed in a few months. If you are an American, then you will probably have noticed that the government of Bolivia doesn't particularly like us... but they do want our money. Thanks Evo! So, when you arrive at the entrance, you first notice a sign that says "Cost of the ticket: Foreigner - 15 bolivians, natives 3 bolivians, minors 1 bolivian" ... Thanks for the big welcome! Our ticket cost 5x the price of a local. You'll find similar pricing structures throughout Bolivia. That being said, 15 bolivians is like, nothing, and I happily paid it.Once you're inside, you pretty much have free reign to walk around and see this beautiful natural formation. The weather in July is just spectacular.... clear BLUE skies and sun. I'll post a few pics on this review in order to whet your appetite.Bottom line: If you're in La Paz, you MUST go here... Just put it on your list.
My friends and I took the buses down to the park. We walked around for a little while and took some pictures. I was surprised that its in the middle of a residential area, so if your not careful your pictures of the cool rock formations will have power lines or someone's house in the background. This hikes aren't vigorous at all.
This was a nice little hike. We did the 15 minute trail as we have been exhausted from our travels. It has amazing views and we stayed a while just to take some pics. Really pretty. Would recommend this as a place to visit!
Take the Red Bus Tour to the Zona Sur of La Paz Just usd9 and well worth it. The views here are spectacular .
If visiting La Paz you must visit this site. Pretty much in the city but so very very different. Bring a camera. You won't see this natural landscape at home. You will walk away wondering like so very kool.
short nice hiking, about 30 min away form down town, yo can get by tours, or just by public transportation. Just take a "minibus" to mallasa
It's particularly atractive for nature lover's. The rocs structure in this place is very similar to those of the moon.
We stopped just outside the actual entrance and could get a great view of the valley with the colorful mountains as a backdrop...I can see why they have given it the name.
This gem is definitely worth going to see when you're in La Paz. It's a fascinating place, rich with wildlife as well as a great area in which to take photos. We went as part of a tour so our guide explained a lot about its formation etc. Had it been up to us alone, we would probably have skipped it as it was a pain to get to but that would have been our loss. The effort should therefore be made during your time here and you won't regret it.
The landscape is interesting, but not a must see. There is a walk through the formations, but there are better things to do in La Paz. If you head out there, take a bus - a taxi is expensive.
This is an area well worth visiting. The rock formations are very unusual and photogenic. It is a smallish area and you can walk around it in a very short period, you don't need much time. Getting there and back in the traffic is a mission.
The rock formations are amazing. You walk along paths & up & down steps. It was very hot when I was there & you're exposed to the sun so take appropriate clothing.Yes a man played the flute which was really nice.it is so different to anything I have ever seen.
