The reason to visit El Calafate is to see and enjoy the Glaciers and this one has great view. No matter what I say it is great and breath taking.
Loved this day from start to finish - Luciano is lovely and the horses were without exception wonderful to ride. The scenery is beautiful and the asado lunch tasted great! Highly recommend this for an inside view into the national park.
This was possibly the best activity we did in our three days in El Calafate; being in that location with such a small group (5 including the guide) felt like we were the only people in the world! It was magical! The horses were great, well cared for and obedient, and Luciano was extremely friendly and helpful. He cooked us a delicious lunch over the fire, steak with garlic and mushroom that he picked on the ride.
We went horseback riding in El Calafate with Cabalgatas del Glaciar. Luciano, the guide, is a very nice person and he was really helpful. We usually go horsebak riding everywhere we visit, and this was a unique experience. The landscapes and views are breathtaking and the food is delicious and included in the price (full day excursion)
Beautiful scenery, excellent guide, good lunch, everything was perfect. Would definitely recommend the day's pony trekking with Luciano as an alternative way to see the glacier! Unforgettable.
Luciano was nice with us for the first hours, then progressively became grumpy, silent (he doesn't speak a word of english and wouldn't even try to start a discussion in spanish) and bored for 5 days. Considering the very high price of the trip, it would have been nice to inform us that we were gonna stay in abandoned refuges with no bathroom, no electricity, no water, holes in the roof letting snow fall on your face when it's approx. -10 outside and that we would sleep on some dirty, crumbled cheap foam. There wasn't even candles. Luciano wouldn't gallop nor trot. Hopefully there was the awesome younger guide (Dario) who knew everything about wildlife, kept a good vibe all the time and cooked for us every night delicious typical argentina food. Horses were good quiet horses for tourists, and obviously, Nature is outstanding, a perpetual amazement (even though the 5 days cabalgata doesn't incluse a close view of the glaciar, and that we never saw the Torres Del Paine Luciano had promised.) Overall, it's overpriced (equivalent of a month of good salary in Argentina per person!) and the experience was mainly tough when it could have been charming with some respectful communication, a bit of good will and the smallest investment in comfort of clients from the owner (it's a backpacker talking.)The one day trip may be good, but for an authentic experience with real, generous gauchos - I luckily had one after, look for another place!!!
My mom and I did a lot in our short time in El Calafate, but this experience was our favorite. We wanted a half-day experience on a typical Argentine ranch that included riding horses, and Cabalgata del Glaciar exceeded our expectations. Our group was small (four visitors, two guides), and our guides were friendly and informative, making our time seem intimate and more personal than a large group tour. The views were incredible and it was surreal seeing them on a horseback ride. We stopped midway through for lunch, an asado. We sat around a fire eating delicious beef sandwiches and drinking wine while the horses munched on grass a few feet away. It was picturesque. I can't recommend it enough!!
My girlfriend and I had a fantastic time on this trip! The views of the glacier and surrounding landscape were fantastic, and the lunch really hit the spot! Luciano and the other guide were very friendly, and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. We spoke mostly Spanish as should be expected as, after all, we were in Argentina! I don't normally write many reviews, but I felt compelled to here. Luciano also picked us up and dropped us off from our hostel in El Calafate to take us to the ranch. When I was careless enough to leave my GoPro video camera which fell below the seat in his vehicle, the hostel called Luciano (despite us only having 45 minutes until our bus to El Chalten), and he met us at the bus station to return it to me! I'm extremely grateful, and I think that only goes to prove his character! Will definitely recommend this trip to friends, and will do it again should we return!
Guides spoke no English, one of our horses had an obvious bad hoof, the other one very undisciplined. Guides failed to communicate to half group we should canter so we stood by and missed it, but it was very short anyway. Scenery good though and nice lunch but we been to much better riding experiences elsewhere.
I would recommend to anyone who wants to experience something out of the ordinary, out of the routine of the everyday life. It was an excellent day, Luciano (the guide) is very friendly and easygoing, the experience is well organised. He came to pick us up at the hotel around 8.30am. We have driven around 1hr to the estancia where you prepare to ride the horse. The horses are great and friendly. Well trained. You ride around 1.5hr to the top of a mountain where you can have great view of the glacial, then half an hour more of riding to have lunch in the middle of the wood (meat al disco with onions, great!). The wind blowing, the river singing, the smell of asado and the argentinian wine makes your blood flowing and magically you forget all your problems at once. The time to have a quick nap and you are back on the horse for the last ride back to the estancia. Great day! Grazie Luciano.....
The guides were nice but spoke next to no English. While the view was pretty it was a truly a walk, not even much trotting. Lunch was decent but plain. Not the highlight of the trip by a wide margin... just another way to view the glacier.
Beautiful nature and stunning views, good horses. Nice atmosphere and food. If you wanna find piece, you'll find it there.
Landscape, barbecue.. U can even see the glaciar...The guide is really nice and explained us everything. It is good also if u do not have experience as me..
Had a great time. Would recommend this trip. Everyone was very friendly. Great views...like being in a painting. Big bottle of wine and steak sandwiches for lunch. Horses were well behaved. Do it!
