If you travelled straight down Carl Marxs you could easily miss this large park near the centre of the city. The park is extensive with lots of things to do especially for the kids. it's good for taking a break amongs the trees, excercising or simply relaxing. Sometimes there are live music performances, you can get snacks at the caffes and beer. Well woth a walk in the park!
This is my favourite place in Dnepro for jogging. It has also one of the best beer gardens in the city. The park is magical in any season. It is great place for picnic in two so as weekend stroll with friends.
This is a wonderful park, very large in the center of the city. Easy walking distance from center but taxis are not expensive. This a great place for kids, lots of things to do, small rides and play centers, lots of space and I am told they have live performances as well. I was here in late May, no events on at the time. This park has lots of trees. I did a pottery making, vase with a friend. I would go back here a again. The is a Coffee Life cafe across the street great coffee and desserts. The rides for kids are very inexpensive priced in UAH mostly 10 to 20 UAH which is less than $2 Canadian
Attractive environment, especially in summer. Nice atmosphere. A lot of friendly people, street shops and goods. The only expensive one: a bit expensive facilities. That's why 4 :)
Loved this, one of MANY places I saw. I didn;t take nearly enough pics-I didn't want to appear a Tourist, ha! But my girlfriend would always say as three men walked by holding a big bottle of Vodka (yep, not stereotyping), "PUT UP, CLOSE AND PUT UP". I guess people get mugged for their electronics there and the River especially:) I laughed it off and never had a minutes trouble night our day. All but the young single Ukrainian men were very pleasant and interested "where I came from". Only when I was alone-=they are very respectful when your woman is on your arm-they rarely even speak then. Different culture and rules I guess:)
I spent August/September in Dnepropetrovsk and walked through Globy Park on just about every day. The park has a variety of entertainments for both the young and older visitors. The bars and cafes sell some lovely food. I am only just starting learning Russian and found the lack of a English menu a struggle at times but the waitresses were very kind and helpful and I managed to muddle through. The amusements are great, some look a little dated if you were to compare with the likes of Alton Towers in the United Kingdom, however I have to say that they are fun. The almost life sized railway and train for the youngsters looks well looked after. Almost always there are children feeding the swans and ducks at the lake. Lots of skaters throughout the park. It would have been nice to see the grandstand/theatre in the centre of the lake in operation, however sadly I was advised that it has not been in operation for a long time.
Globa Park is widely regarded as one of the oldest in the city of Dnipropetrovsk. It was founded in the XVIII century by Zaporozhye Cossacks Lazar Globa in his estate. The park is known for its green areas, as well as the place where the most important meetings and rallies take place. There are rides, children's railway ring, a basketball court , a lot of cafes with outdoor open verandas, and three playgrounds for different group age. In the heart of the park there is a huge lake that you can work around, and feed the ducks and swans there. The Festival square in the Park is the area where the winter adorned Christmas tree, holidays scene with youth groups , and during the summer - rollers. This trip will take a lot of emotions: just bought a pair of children's toys, ride on the Ferris wheel, and after tasting the popcorn and cotton, you'll be in a good mood, which will give you new strength to go shopping.
Large park, small lake with swans. Great for families, some small attractions for young children. Good for a Sunday afternoon stroll.
The park is rather large and has a variety of activities that are bound to attract both young and old. The amusement park rides that are scattered throughout are really fun. There is a beautiful lake with swans and catamarans and a beautiful sculpture of the Little Prince. Make sure to take your kids on the old mini railroad - a highlight of the visit. I love this park, it's a memory of my childhood, so only have very good things to say about it. Well worth a visit.
Globy Park (former Chkalova Park) is one of the most picturesque places in Dnipropetrovsk and is definitely worth visiting. There you can find a unique railway station with a train for children imitation the real train, a big lake with swans and ducks, carting, catamarans, cafes, entertainments for kids, main city New Year tree (in winter) wich is a great experience for locals and foreign guests.
