the poltava battle history museum

This as museums go is very small and doesn't take long to go around, it is ok in itself but I personally didn't find it that interesting, however the good thing was that it did have English translations beside each exhibit. Even with this I went around it in 30 minutes, I think it needs more interactive type presentations if they want to attract European tourists. I would not recommend it as a place to visit personally but maybe one should make their own mind up in this occasion.

A very good museum about the Battle of Poltava 1709 - at which Peter the Great defeated Charles XII of Sweden. Extensive exhibition and guides in different languages. Well worth the visit. There are some outside signs of the famous "redoubts" but you need to give yourself time to look around at these after the inside museum tour. Most of the battlefield is obscured by shrubs etc

Perfect place to learn some more about the Poltava battle. Unfortunately they didn't have English speaking guide. But it didn't stop us to watch and learn ))

Get the story and background to where Sweden lost the position as superpower. This is where it happened. The museum explains it very well and also gives you the earlier story of the region.You need transportion if you want to get out and see the battle fields.

A museum itself is ok (in comparison with other museums in Ukraine). There are guides who speak English and that is a big advantage :) Yes, it is not interactive, but there are NO interactive museums in Ukraine :) Loads of exhibits from the war. The territory around the museum is worth seeing. There is an old church and a place where the Russian soldiers were berried after the battle (it was in summer so the corps were gathered quickly and were berried as fast as possible... there is a huge monument there now). Good place to visit if you are interested in history. Cons: no cafes or even a kiosk with water nearby. So take some water and some cookies with you. It is not in the city centre, but there is public transport there (bus #5 which goes to the museum from the University of Economics, ask people, they are really friendly and will help you)

Everything translated into English, I had a friend to guide me round. Was just full of exhibits, nothing interactive and some texts were very heavy going.

I visited this museum once with a guide. I was lucky to him him because there was another person there, I figured he also was a foreigner. But he did not have an interpreter with him. The old lady who was showing him around, she was speaking as Kalashnikov, really really fast and the guy had no clue as to what she was saying. My advice: get an interpreter, otherwise it might be downright embarrassing. I found mine at a company called Poltava Travel I think.

This museum is very worthwhile to get a sense of Ukrainian history. It is a bit outside of the centre, but easy to reach by car or taxi. Explanations are also in English, which is not always the case in this country! The Battle of Poltava was decisive for the history of both the Ukraine and of Russia (the ascent of Peter the Great). Also impressive are the mounds composed of the skeletons of the victims of the battle. Do speak with the friendly English-speaking tour guide if you want a further elaboration of certain details.

If you like history this is a good place to visit. This is the battlefield for 300 year ago battle for Ukrainian freedom. Of course Ukraine lost and so goes history. Here to visit there is a new monunment erected for 300th anniversary in 2009, a beautiful church and a history museum.Located a bit out of city but buses run here. Only fee to pay is for museum, you are free to wander the rest of the site.

Как настоящий полтавчанин в музей Полтавской битвы я попадаю только с гостями из других городов. Был здесь несколько раз и каждый было что-то новенькое в экспозиции. Но основная часть экспонатов уже наскучила за вторым разом. Узнал очень многое про славную битву и связанные с ней события. Все нагляднее и понятнее чем в учебниках по истории.Плата за вход скорее символическая и для студентов есть скидки. Услуги экскурсовода тоже недорогие.

В селе Яковцы исторический музей Полтавской битвы с богатой коллекцией экспонатов, могильными холмами, редутами...

Музей находится довольно таки далеко, но при желании добраться довольно просто, другой вопрос, что такого рода желание есть у ограниченного количества публики, что обуславливает немногочисленность посетителей. А посмотреть и узнать есть что - все-таки это одна из наиболее известных исторических достопримечательностей Полтавы, которая неплохо освещена в экспозиции. С другой стороны, побывав во многих музеях мира, сам подход заведения очень устарел - нужно что-то придумывать и привлекать клиента, особенно, если музей не очень хорошо расположен по логистике.

В этот музей категорически нельзя ходить тем, кто учил историю до 2000 года. Потому что именно в этом музее вы узнаете, что шведы защищали Украину (конечно же от русских), что "образование у Петра I было так себе и поэтому он тянулся к по-европейски образованному Мазепе", что дешевые баннеры, представляющие реплики с портрета Карла (с придыханием "Подарок наших шведских друзей") гораздо ценнее, чем оригинал живописного полотна Полтавской битвы во всю стену, заказанного еще при жизни Петром Великим в Европе у известного живописца ("А, это нам передали из Эрмитажа, когда формировался музей в советское время, им было не нужно") и еще массу интересных вещей вам расскажут...По факту - просто обидно, что политические и экономические размолвки так сильно отражаются на фактах, которые куда повернешь - такими и будут.Ну а с точки зрения исторической наполненности - даже музейные работники признают, что после 90-х годов часть дорогих музейных экземпляров (типа комзола молодого Петра) была обменена на странные вещи типа непонятного комодика начала 19 века...В музей идти стоит, если сможете запастить терпением и океаном толерантности. Тогда возможно будет узнать и несколько интересных фактов.

Живописное место на окраине Полтавы. В музее собраны предметы, имеющие отношение к знаменитой Полтавской битве. Большую часть экспозиции составляют "около"-исторические экспонаты - художественные произведения, не имеющие прямого отношения к самой битве. Но посетить этот музей всё-таки стоит, особенно с детьми. Поверьте, ест на что посмотреть и о чём рассказать детям! Рядом с музеем находится Самсоновская церковь с интересными мозаиками и усыпальница. Там же можно приобрести украинские и полтавские сувениры - хороший выбор и едва ли не самые демократичные в Полтаве цены.

Очень интересный музей!Все наглядно,красиво,компактно.Проводят прекрасные экскурсии не дорогие и очень познавательные(на русском языке есть).Обязательно сходите в местный ресторанчик!И погуляйте по территории
