Actually, there are very few original things left, but due to general atmosphere and really great guides it is worth seeing - especialy by Bulhakov's funs.

I visited the museum a gloomy thursday afternoon and got a private tour of the museum from one of the old ladies working there. I did not understand her russian explanations but the visit was well worth the money! Here you can see family photos of the Bulgakovs and other personal belongings owned by the famous writer.

For this museum it is a must to take a guided tour, otherwise you would not understand the arrangements of the rooms in Bulgakov's former house. In fact, the rooms are decorated as he imagined them in his novel 'The White Guard'. The idea of decorating the interiors of the house/museum as he describes them in this novel is very creative and original. Besides, the whole area around the house is very picturesque and when coming from Maidan Square you could take a leisurely walk of an hour, admiring the beautiful churches on the way. If you have an interest in this great surrealist writer and you are in Kiev, his house is well worth a visit!

The guide was superb, explaining the history of Bulgakov, his time in Kyiy at the Andreevsky Spusk, and explaining the story of 'Belaya Guardia'. After the tour, enjoy a local soft drink on the back balcony. Prosto sdorovo - great!

Very nice experience. There was a magic aura all around. Museum itself is a house of Bulgakov family with original furniture and atmosphere of the last century.

We toured this museum with a visiting Russian literature lover. Although we have read a few works of this author in translation, for most non-native Russian speakers who have only a passing knowledge of the works, it might be just too detailed. The guide spoke with enthusiasm and great knowledge. Our friend was very impressed. The apartment where Bulgakov lived has been restored in an interesting way, but it is probably not on the top 10 list for the average foreign tourist to visit.

Bulgakov is my favourite author and it is a great honour for me to be in his house. It is very important to get deep in to the magic of this building and you must take a tour with a guide. Actually I've never been in a museum where you getting involved in almost a theatrical action-tour. Very unique place!

Bulgakov museum is one of my favorite ones. The museum is rather small, and it takes us back to the times of the Russian civil war and tells us a story of the Turbin family. It seems that you really feel the spirit of that time and the atmosphere of sadness and hope in the Turbin family. It is definitely worth visiting, don't forget to book a guided tour. The guides are excellent.

We had an English speaking guide who was quite informative and enthusiastic. Bulgakov's house reflects the man's life and character. A fascinating look at Kiev during the tumultuous years of the early twentieth century. We were able to reserve a tour in English by showing up at the museum where we were given a time for the following day. After the tour we walked behind to the back of the house for tea, apple cake and jam for a very low price. There was a nice choice of teas served by a delightful woman who enjoyed practicing her English with us. A well spent afternoon!

This museum in actually inside Bulgakov's house, which is quite nice. We didn't get to go inside because it was already closed, but looked like a wonderful museum by reading the other reviews...

St Andrew's descent is an amazing street of traditional & historical buildings, some of which are museums, others are cafes, restaurants & bars. We had planned to visit this museum as the write up in our guide made it sound interesting. A home where the author actually lived, is as if, he was still alive & had gone out for the afternoon. The rooms all connected into each other, there was the furniture, fixings & original manuscripts from the author. We just went through the rooms ourselves with no guide and managed to find & understand the captions and found the experience well worth it.

It was a very interesting tour! You get to see his home and learn about what each room represents. It has some of his personal items (dressers, lamps, etc) and you get to walk through a dresser into another room like Narnia! (I'm not sure why, because the guide spoke Russian and my Russian is not the best) But it was still very cool! I loved it. :)

Despite I like Bulgakov, i didnt like the museum and its impudent staff, and i was dissappointed because they didnt let me visit the museum, and made me drive away!!! They said: you should order the excursion in advance(1week) or gather a group of 6-8 visitors. I told them i dont want the excursion, and just come in and view museum by myself, but answer was: it's impossible!!! I was shocked & very sad, moreover I was ashamed of their behaviour. I can imagine what they can tell to foreing guest!! I will never visit this museum, the most unpleasant museum in whole Kyiv!

I have always been keen on reeding Mikhail Bulgakov's stories and plays. Therefore, for me it was especially important to visit his museum. it gives you a good prospect on what the Revolution actually meant for people in Russia and how it affected life of different estates.
