The real war machine on the water. The submarine is exceptional attraction to view in this city. I can say it's a must see attraction not only for adults, but for children too. The ship is on its own float in the river. You can see everything as this ship is on duty. Only some inside rearrangements is made in it for more pleasant visiting. You can see, how the marines lived here, where they made food, where slept, how missiles were launched and how the ship was controlled. Some say it is some claustrophobic, but I can say, that environment created in the submarine is authentic and real. Once again, better see, not hear about it.
This is very interesting place to visit for the whole family! Her you can touch everything, look at everything and ask a great guide about everything, connected to marine! really interactive and worth visiting))
Some dreams come true, you can enter the submarine and feel how it is for yourself. Despite that the submarine is a bit old (from the soviet union times) it's still an adventure.Others boats and ships are worth to see too.
Absolutely amazing to view and explore inside of this submarine.Would certainly not like to have worked on it.This is a must if you are in Kaliningrad and a talk with the guides on board is amazing.this is 1 of top 5 sites to visit. Excellent
Very nice museum to visit, very well explained! The staff knows a lot about its history. Also the rest of the museum is very good. A must see!
This was very cool - walking along this 1960,s sub was great fun - more dials and buttons than the Tardis...not for the claustrophobic among you...looking at the "big fish" in the torpedo rooms was very interesting. Lots of building work going on near here so it will only get better with time..Check the opening times!
i think is one of the few submarines people can visit, not recommended for old pople because stairs and portholes are not easy to access
The best thing I saw in Kaliningrad, but other reviews are exactly right when they warn this is not for the claustrophobic. Also you have to be fairly agile to get up and down the ladders and through the hatchways, so dress appropriately too. Only downside was the lack of info or explanation in anything but Russian (which seems to be the norm everywhere).
Re-imagine yourself as Sean Connery in The Hunt for Red October in the wardroom of a genuine decommissioned Soviet submarine. If you go to Kaliningrad & do not visit this attraction you are a fool. Just don't push the big red button!
Very interesting piece of history specially if you have never been to a submarine before give this place a visit.
unforgettable experience! perfectly kept sub and watching a periscope just brought me that very childish feeling.
The sub museum is part of a larger museum of vessels moored alongside each other by the river, but I would have to say it is probably one of the most interesting. Our guides were a couple of old sea dogs who had experience of working on subs and were able to explain to us the history of the submarine and how it's crews operated it. Our group were even able to split up into different sections of the submarine and 'simulate' a dive and attack and onboard emergency- with each of us being given a script to read off and various instructions on how to operate our positions- including the torpedo gunner (me!) who got to 'load' a tube and fire off a torpedo! It is a fantastic opportunity to get hands on with a piece of history and take plenty of cool photos that will be a great talking point for you upon your return. Highly recommended!
The weather may be niceYou can meet everyday sunrise. The weather everyday is not bad,And it's the best for my eyes...
This is an excellent museum and if you have never been on a Russian submarine before then I suggest you pay it a visit. I first visited this museum in 2008 and went back in June 2012. A lot of gadgets and things to explore. You also have the option to visit a war ship and the aquarium. If you like photography and want to take good photos don`t go over a weekend. Too many people and too busy! Great value for money.Tip: Make sure you wear comfortable shoes. For the ladies - shoes with heels are not allowed.
very interesting.. intrigued as to how people can live in a sub as i hated being in it and we were moored up. it is part of a wider museum- you can see an aquarium and more ships alongside
