my husband talked me into this, considering my severe fear of heights I worried that I'd bottle it and back out. But chair 73 came and swooped us up in a blink if an eye. The safety bar was closed and of we went....quite loud screeches flowed freely from my mouth, but that soon stopped once I opened my eyes!! STUNNING!!! Perfect day out, beautiful scenery and our tour guide was also canny. Not many public loos about (but loads of bushes in case of emergency). 10/10 highly recommend to you all.
A good day out and you visit a lovely village and church on the way nice views of the countryside from the bus , then on to lunch which was included be prepared for it to be very rustic then to the blue mountain range and chair lift unfortunately it was a wet day late in the season when we did this trip so the chair wind was not working because of hight winds but the views were great, then to Finnish off a wine tasting to warm us up yes it was a cold day , so all in all a value for money day and if you want a change from the beach or pool and to see a little more of the real Bulgaria well worth doing.
After the normal welcome meeting and the reps give you the pitch about this that and the other and of course them trying to sell you something. So me and the wife chose to take a trip to the blue mountains at a cost of 174 lev this is about £74 this is for the whole day so it's not that bad.Are tour guides name was Maggy She was very informative on the way to the first stop this was at café on the way to Sliven This was quite expensive but a welcomed break.before we went up to the village to have a look at some of the culture and an old church.it was a bit of a history lesson. Hold on before you make judgement its living history and you need to learn a bit about the country your going to.Then we went to a place and had a 4 course meal this was in keeping with the Bulgarian tradition. Then to the chairlift I was not looking forward to this as I am scared of heights the rep calmed us down All the coach party done it WELL DONE. It cost 10 lev this is just over £4 well worth the trip the views are stunning. We then went on to the vineyard/winery for wine tasting as I don't like wine not for me but for the people that do it was very good.
A great experience for a small fee..lovely views..A very enjoyable ride from top to bottom..Suitable for most people, not sure if its advisable for the very elderly to go on it but it is safe, though a little awkward to get on and off.
My boyfriend is from Sliven and he recommended that we spend a day on the mountain. We were debating whether to walk up or take the lift. I'm sure at some point we will go back and climb up however I'm very happy we took the lift. It was fun and provided for some stunning views of Sliven on the way down as well as the mountain on the way up. If you are in the area definitely stop by and take a ride to the top. There are lots of beautiful trails and a lovely bakery at the top. You do have a trek in a bit to get to the bakery. There are also natural springs and a wonderful little pond at the top as well. Would be worthwhile to even pack a picnic lunch as there are many wonderful spots to sit and enjoy it.
On the way from Burgas to Plovdiv with a short diversion you get to go on the chairlift up the Blue Mountain. As usual in Bulgaria it is not well sign posted but a friendly assistant in a petrol station was able to tell us where it was and it was worth the effort. The lift may look precarious but was smooth and tranquil. We ascended the mountain and strolled around the top and would have stayed longer had we known there were treks we could have done. The views from the top were something special, On the way back down they were more accessible and, because of the speed of the lift, easy to behold.
Even after living here for a year, it took me the whole 12 months to finally get up the energy to go up the mountain here! You can take a cheap taxi to the bottom of the lift for about 4 leva and then take the round-trip experience up the mountain and back for about 6. But don't stop once you get to the top, go hiking around, follow the road and go through the forrest to come across a reservoir and a beautiful peak view point!Bring a friend, bring a lunch and enjoy the views :)
The chairlift ride was the highlight of my day. The chairlift may not look much, but it is perfectly safe. The views from the summit are fantastic and as you travel down the mountain side the photo opportunities are plentiful. This is an experience I will remember for a long time.
