If you travel through Djupivogur, then you should stop by to see the eggs. They aren't too exciting, but worth seeing for a quick stop if you have time.
The eggs are another unique outdoor exhibition. See my photos. They represent the bird life in the region. They are perfectly lined up along the waterfront.I found the shapes and contrast between the eggs fascinating.Worth a stop.
A nice piece of public art, worth a look if you are nearby but not worth a special visit. We enjoyed walking to the location from the centre of town to see more of the town and the collections of rocks, whale bones and other interesting items on display in the gardens of some houses.
If you're already there, it's worth a look. Shapes and colors are interesting, plus just the number of eggs is amusing. So, basically it's free art, so why not?
This outdoor artwork consists of 34 granite eggs, representing the species of local birds. The eggs are all similar in size except for the one wich belongs to the red - throated diver, the "national" bird of Djupivogur. From the centre of the village is about 900 metres walking distance to the eggs
Nice out doors artwork in "Gleðivík" (Happy cove) showing eggs of the birds of the area. The shape of each egg is very precise, but the color and size is not. Even so it is very interesting to take a lok at this artwork.
While walking we came upon this delightful artwork by visual artist Sigurdur Gudmundsson. Thirty-four eggs from local birds in the area -- one of which is the red throated diver (largest egg) the national bird of Djupivogur. This work was completed in August 2009.
