the akranes museum centre

It is fun going to the Museum Centre in Akranes. The history you get about this town in one trip is amazing.Here you can also visit the Icelandic sports museum. After or during your visit you can sit down at the coffeeshop located in the main building. Good service.

This is a great little museum. We particularly enjoyed the three little historical houses but there was so much to offer through out. We had intended a quick visit but stayed most of the afternoon. It was very quiet -only one other set of visitors which was a shame for such a gem of an attraction. However it did mean that we got personal attention and were able to find out all sorts of interesting information from the very well informed staff.
